Name: Susan Da'Casto on Jan 31, 2013Comments: I'm shocked and dismayed to think that this wonderful venue could be closed when it has provided so much to children of all backgrounds and abilities for so many years. My grand daughter has loved horses since she was a baby, and she has been able to use the riding school because it's in the city. If it closes then she won't have access to another riding school, as she is limited by the distance she can travel, and also cost. This is not an elitist establishment. it should not be dismissed as an elitist activity. It affords access to a sport beloved of many young people, and to close it would deprive them of an activity they love.Flag

Name: Delyth Harris on Jan 31, 2013Comments: This facility must not be closed! It's an invaluable resource to the city. Not just providing riding lessons, but also a place where young people can go to spend time together, learn responsibilities, teamwork and make new friends. Riding for the Disabled lessons are also held here. The client base is massive and the lives of so many have been touched by this very special place. It must be left so that future generations will be lucky enough to have the same experiences. It's a bit of country life right here in the city and is much needed. The amount of support rallied for the school in the last 24 hours should show the importance and value of this place. Don't take it away!Flag

Comments: For many people, Cardiff Riding school (affectionately known as Pontcanna) represents their firs contact with horses. It isn't just a place where people learn to ride, it's where friendships are formed and a life-long love of horses begins. It teaches children the responsibility of looking after an animal whilst learning to ride in a safe environment. It's a way for those people who could never afford their own horse to experience the joy of horsemanship. Following the phenomenal success of the British equestrian team at the Olympics, horse riding has been catapulted into the spotlight. Now is an excellent time for introducing a new generation of youngsters to the sport whilst the success of 2012 is still fresh in their minds. This is an opportunity to be grasped with both hands, please do not waste it.Flag -

Cardiff council and 'our' government should be ashamed to take this opportunity away. Certainly when we all know where our tax payers money is going! ipads, senior management pay rises, supporting people not even looking for work! Please come and have a look around the school, feel the family environment, the postive happy children and staff. Meet the horses. It is such a special place.Flag

Name: Paloma Quinn Mills on Jan 31, 2013Comments: Absoulutely disgraceful. They should concentrate on saving money in other areas, such as their own pockets, than cutting a legacy that is the riding school. They are sending 51 horses to unknown fate, 30 people into unemployment and denying the wonderful group of disabled riders an experience that is drastically helping them. The council should be ashamed.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 31, 2013Comments: After the success of our riders in the Olympics and Paralympics, the Council should be doing more not less for our children. This is not the legacy we expect. In the past the School has more or less broke even on costs and we would rather pay more in fees than see it closed.Flag
