Name: Anonymous on Jun 6, 2007Comments: FACT is that a lively Downtown Brooklyn consists of ALL PEOPLE - if the city wants to create a Ghetto for the Rich - and trample on the people who made them rich - then I want to remind them of who bakes their bread- who cleans their garments- who sweeps their streets etc. Imagine a ghetto for the Rich without ARTISTS, MERCHANTS and Small Businesses...because we - the real people - will not be able to afford this city... Imagine there will only exist huge chainstores...every body eats the same junk- everybody wears the same sweatshop clothes made in china/indonesia/you name it- everybody thinks the same and looks the same...because the media is also controlled by just a few jokers... THAT IS A BRAVE NEW WORLD ORDER that looks like a nightmare... I came to this country because of the diversity of people. I am interested in skilled and talented INDIVIDUALS- I detest a uniformed world where every apartment has the same bad and tacky interior design- no matter how high the rent...I,ve l,ooked around and seen them all... its a joke- there will be no room for creativity... The new architecture is ridiculous- these are not living spaces - they are mortgage prisons for the brainwashed yuppies and money machines for the upper class who then will need a vacation on a untouched beach at the "third world" to relax from the mess they created in their own country. I am not willing to live in high rises that are badly constructed, with unskilled workers for the quick money. Sheetrock rules nowadays...Old buildings had a better structure and were built with more soul. The construction site on 222 Duffield Street had already stop work orders... If a developer wants to develop he/she should work with skilled people and- if a developer wants to gentrify downtown Brooklyn and throw out the people who were living and working here then he needs to pay BIG TIME for the disturbance, the stress and the relocation of all the people he distressed. We need to call for a law to protect the working class and the middle class from unethical behavior of developers and their politician buddies and we should impeach politicians who are sell outs.Flag
