Comments: The urge of publishers and distributors to maintain total control of the supply chain at all costs, not only rides a coach and horses through the OFT’s expressed Opinion but will undoubtedly hasten the demise of many retailers depriving many communities of their local store. The OFT must act to prevent this.

Comments: Suppliers are dictating their terms and reducing margins. Newsagents overheads keep increasing and the sums do not add up. Once independent newsagents go they will be lost for ever. SAVE OUR NEWSAGENTS.

Comments: The decision taken by the OFT is unacceptable to the news industry. A new code of practice is urgently required.

Comments: This is the only industry where I have no say in who can supply my papers/magazines. I would have changed suppliers many times given a choice.

Comments: The publisher decision to create a wholesale duopoly in the UK newspaper & magazine market is absolutley at odds with the OFT desire to foster increased competition. Retail & consumer choice will be severely restricted in future.

Comments: Dawson News entered a competitive process to re-negotiate its contracts for the next five years, but the power of the press moguls meant that the outcome was totally uncompetitive for the industry, wholesale and retail alike.

Comments: The prospect of a wholesale duopoly must be halted. This will do long term damage to retail newsagents and the ability of consumers to buy newspapers and magazines where and when they want to.
