Name: Lori Sulmasy on Jan 20, 2010Comments: It would be a significant loss to the City of Bridgeport and surrounding communities, as well as the many Pro Se patrons and local attorneys, that are helped by having ready access to legal research materials. Bridgeport is the largest city in Connecticut and this is the largest law library in the Connecticut Judicial Branch system -- its closure makes no sense. If both Bridgeport and Milford are closed, there will be no law library between New Haven and Stamford along the busy I-95 corridor. This is a true hardship for the local constituents. The important service of personalized legal research assistance provided by the law librarians on site in the JD courthouse can not be duplicated by Court Service Center or resources from a remote location.Flag

Name: Philip D. Milks on Jan 20, 2010Comments: To ensure justice, it is necessary to do more than protect the right of all people to have access to and fair treatment before the courts. It is necessary to protect access to the language of the law itself. --excerpt from "Justice Requires Access to the Law" by Julia Wentz Professor of Law, Director of the Law Library, Loyola University ChicagoFlag

We are all dependent upon the information contained therein and will be highly disadvantaged if they close.Flag
