Comments: Please Bradford Council and Yorkshire Forward have some vision. Imagine if the Odeon could be restored to include an Asian shopping centre-like Bombay Stores (embrace our multiculturalism), a traditional museum element, bars and an art gallery with community space for workshops. A multi-purpose space. It would draw in all the visitors from the National Media Museum and reflect positively on the council's desire to see Bradford thrive. At the moment the Council seem to want to bring Bradford down, I don't understand it. Help us love and celebrate our city!

Comments: Absolute disgrace- what IS this mania that Bradford has with demolishing, demolishing. There's no other City I know like it. Look at the likes of MIlan, Barcelona, Prague- have they ripped out the heart of them- ? NO- a thousand times NO. The reason they have stayed special is precisely that. Bradford insists on ripping out everything special to Bradford They always have- the list is endless. We despair of the Planners who never ever listen

Comments: There has been enough pulling down of Bradfords' historic buildings. Put some money into this project and it could be a twin for the Alhambra. Extend the Museum of photography or something and put another IMAX screen in there. Don't pull it down though....please!

Comments: keep the building and re-open it am sure there will be volunteers that would help re decorate it. its a fine old building probably one of the only good things Bradford has to show. why get rid of a perfectly good building!

Comments: I am a Museum Studies PhD researcher at the University of Leeds. As such, issues concerning industrial, social and cultural heritage interest me greatly. I am originally from Bradford and am well aware of the City's diversity along with some of the difficulties Bradford has faced in the past. New builds and regeneration is a good thing, however a place with no cultural past will struggle to forge a cultural future identity, and I strongly believe that the demolition of the Odeon would be detrimental to the cultural identity of Bradford. There is a great deal of research being undertaken in academic fields in relation to notions of civic pride and local identity through the preservation and re-use of such charismatic buildings and landmarks. To ignore the value of the Odeon to the people of Bradford (that also includes those who still identify with the City but live elsewhere), would be both ill-informed and shortsighted in light of the findings of such studies.

Comments: we need a town centre to be proud of, yesterday at the opening of the city park, there were thousands of people, not only in the park but in the shops spending money. I have lived in Bradford for 45 years and can't remember a time when there were so many people in the centre. There are so many uses this building could have, but the primary focus should be using it to build Bradford's economy, it could house independent shops, stalls like Leeds did with the corn exchange.
