rob | please, please dont pull it down.the building could be renovated to a spec very similar to the alhambra.it could definatly form the centre piece of the city.
phill.d | A pure act of vandalism. The cinema i a gem full of 1930's art decor. look behind the false walls to see what you want to smash to pieces and feel shamefull about it too!!!!
imogen patterson | This is a beautiful old building, so many of these have been lost and it would be a shame to see part of Bradford's heritage disappear.
Anonymous | Save the Bradford Odeon, anyone wanting to pull this building down has cleanly lost the plot, they have already pulling half of Bradford down and its been 4 years before they have got on with any of it, pulling this down would be more of an eye saw, who wants a town full of glass? Not me, I want a town to have character and the Odeon has lots of that, save it, add to it bring, it back to life but do not pull it down . i have just become a friend of the BORG and i'll be getting more of my friends and family to join,

John | Save the odeon.
Anonymous | we need to preserve these old building they are part of our heritage
Matthew | BORG's plans for the site are fantastic. I know i would be interested in using the mixed use entertainment building and if boxing and snooker events could happen there it would attract people to the city which is what it needs to start the regeneration!!!!

phillip marshall |
mrfivefingers | SAVE THE CINEMA!
David Pendleton | The Odeon perfectly reflects the architecture of the adjacent Alhambra. To demolish it would be an act of cultural vandalism on a par with the loss of the Swan Arcade and Kirkgate Market.
paul holdsworth | This is a fantastic piece of architecture that should be restored not demolished! Why not demlish the horrible multiplex that is cine world instead?
Jo |
Andrew Barnes |
Nicola Boocock | Save this beautiful building! When is Bradford ever going to learn to keep its heritage and old buildings!!!!
Judi Boocock | Don't let the Bradford planners demolish another beautiful building. The history and character of Bradford is quickly disappearing don't let this happen.
| 618 | philippa henry | hey i moved to new york in 2006 but i still miss the building
they shouldnt knock it down |
Dave Profit | Please please save this building. Once gone gone forever and look at all the buildings that many regret have been lost. Progress is needed but some things are an assett and need regeneration of the structure and this is one!!

Robert Chesterfield | People connect with buildings, they remember them from childhood, share memories of someone's first love or offered shelter during sad times. To destroy a building that means so much to so many shows true disregard to the people of Bradford, yes it may look like an eyesore at the moment. But there are many similar examples across the UK which have been saved from the recking ball to be successfully restored and given a new life, able to serve the local community for many years to come. Give the New Victoria/Odeon a new lease of life that everyone thinks it deserves.

Eileen Housley | This building must be saved for future generations to appreciate

Michael Chesterfield | Don't demolish a fine building - keep it for future generations
Martin Gardiner | Its seems to me that putting the money into making it a major live music venue in the north of england, bringing in very popular music of all styles which brings in money for bradford businesses is a better way of regenerating bradford. Knocking it down just gives money to one comany to build some crappy new building in the place of a venerated architectural structure.
Joshua Fieldhouse | I Would Love To See This Odeon Restored as i feel it was a fantastic buliding and would look great if restored back toits natural beauty , Do you want all of bradfords history to go away? Im Only 16 but still feel very strongly i remember my visits as a child and action needs to be taken
Lloyd Russell-Moyle |
| 630 | Taroon Mistry | Bradford been through alot over the years and destroying the odeon cinema would be sign to say the city has given up.
Im sure there are alot of business people in bradford that would invest and make sure the building comes back to its glory....
Lets bring people back to the city....... |
| 631 | Ailsa Campbell | It's a beautiful building. Why does regeneration have to mean knocking down all the old stuff and replacing it with characterless piles.
Bradford has some amazing buildings and this is one of them. Haven't we learned anything from the 60s? |
Graham Hart |
Marina Hart |
mark wilkinson | Too many of our theatres and cinemas are being demolished - please restore this one - it will be a superb concert venue and will complement the Alhambra Theatre
Anne Smith |
Anne Smith |
Lizzie P | I can't believe people want to demolish this important piece of history! I'm from the midlands + this happened in a town near me in the 60's, beautiful buildings demolished to make way for "modern architecture" which now looks depressing, drab and tatty! Save Our Heritage...SAVE THE ODEON!!!!!
Philip Corner | The Bradford Odeon is a wonderful place. I remember going there as a student when it was still in use as a cinema. I even recall the last film I saw there, which was Gladiator. The place had so much more charm than that steel box multiplex next to the Interchange. A real connection to the golden days of Hollywood. It's is a piece of cinema history - and so shameful that a city which is home to the NPFPT can so willfully turn its back on that history. It's an atrocious contradiction.
mr s french |
andy garner | Get the council to LISTEN what the people of Bradford want for this grand building , there DEFINATELY a commercial & social use for the building in 2008
Nanette Brimble |
judy etheridge | landmark building perfectly in balance with surrounding city scape, Alhambra etc. Every effort should be made to preserve, conserve and develop its use as cultural centre.
Mathew Tudor | KNOCKING DOWN THE ODEON WILL THE SAME AS RIPPING THE HEART OUTTA BRADFORD
