| 551 | Glenn Mitchell | Once its gone its gone, what building could possibley replace this lovely building, a shopping centre! too many of these classic buildings are being pulled down its our heritage, one day there will be nothing to show our children just pictures, and they will wonder why |
| 552 | John T McDonough II | What a shame that anyone would even consider tearing down the Bradford Odeon building ! ! ! |
| 553 | Barbara Gooch | |

| 555 | Anonymous | Do save the Odeon. It is a wonderful piece of English history. |
| 556 | Helen Allsopp | We travel from Derbyshire because we love the city so much, BECAUSE of old buildings like this - make Bradford the Grand, Proud city it is at heart and restore buildings like these NOT tear them down! |

| 558 | Tony O'Keeffe | Liverpool has demolished enough Beatles' landmarks. Please don't follow this trend. Great architecture should be cherished too. |
| 559 | Thomas Cardy-Dodds | The demolition of this building is plain wrong, it should not be allowed at least until the public have been given a fair voice. |
| 560 | Martin Dodd | I am not from Bradford myself, but I have to say that this building is part of what everyone knows and loves about coming over to Bradford for an evenings of fantastic music in grand suroundings.
It must remain open as a live music venue!! |
| 561 | Eileen Carter | The Odeon building should be retained, repaired and then used as a venue to host concerts etc
Please don't destroy another piece of Bradford's history. |
| 562 | Hasim Ravat | What a waste!! Pictures of the Odeon taken by some break in merchants posted on the net show quite clearly that many of the original features remain - why can't the council understand that to regenerate a once flourishing city does not neccesarily mean brand new building only! Any thriving City will benefit from a cultural hub and its blatantly obvious that a regenrated Victoria Building housing cultural matter will enhance Bradford's reputation. Why not use it for to showcase local theatre, film, art new media?? Knocking it down or letting it rot is NOT the answer!!!!!!!! |
| 563 | Timothy Lam | anyone thought of getting the university students involved? i'm studying there now and am from harrogate. i'm sure theres alot of interest if someone asked. |
| 564 | Alex Ross | |
| 565 | Chris | Save the oden, save the world |
| 566 | Holly Zdolyny | |
| 567 | Jayne Tunnicliffe | The Odeon is an iconic building of Bradford - do not demolish it! First the theatre royal, then the alexandra hotel......it's abysmal |
| 568 | Elliott Horan | I think it's disgusting if they pull the place down, our surrounding towns and cities have converted old buildings into great places,Leeds has the corn exchange,Halifax has Dean Clough Mills and Huddersfield has the old court house turned into Tokyo's nightclub.I reckon we need a cool clothes mall inside there or even a music venue instead of that over priced dump "love apple". Please do not pull another landmark down |
| 569 | ash sharma | I was featured on bbc look north taliking about this magnificent building. She is a monument to Bradford and we as Bradfordians should have great pride to have her grace our city. She gave mass entertainment to the working classes and is part of our heritage, SAVE THE ODEON !!!!!!!!!+ |
| 570 | rob hanso | |
| 571 | jeanette vaughan | this is a beautiful building, just as worth saving as the alhambra theatre was. to do justice to bradfords history refurbish this building and don't just knock it down and throw up a modern eyesore.
if we are indeed proud of our citys history let us save our old buildings from destruction |
| 572 | Sue Hartley | Bradford historic buildings was demolished in the 70s by councilors who then went to prison for backhanders. Is this a repeat of history, Bradford DOES NOT need another monster building
We nolonger have the Mecca Ballroomfor dancing, the Odeon should me restored as a venue for dancing and seeing live bands, |
| 573 | Anonymous | |
| 574 | Shona Grange | Here is an opportunity for Bradford to restore the building and open up the ballroom. Instead of trying to attract shops which are of no interest to a large section of the population, why not cash in on using it for music and dance? Gigs can run alongside Bollywood, ballroom and Bangra. Music and dancing appeals to all cultures and ages. This will bring people to Bradford. Not shops and empty offices. Don't tear it down! |
| 575 | Anonymous | It would be such a good music venue |
| 576 | Edward Stott | |
| 577 | Anonymous | This building must be used as a venue!! |
| 578 | Andrew Troth | |
| 579 | robert | |
| 580 | Julie Rasimowicz | I believe that the Odeon cinema should be saved as (contrary to the information circulated) it is in fact in very good condition internally and would demonstrate a very effective reuse of an existing building. This would be a good alternative as it would be in keeping with other older buildings in the area.
Additionally, the suggestion to turn this into a concert venue is a particularly good idea as Bradford would then have a second venue available for live acts (bands, plays etc.) which would in turn attract more people to visit the city centre. |
| 581 | Dave Robinson | |
| 582 | Anonymous | This building should not be allowed to rot! It could be put to very good use. Why would we want more anonynous and poorly constructed boxes on our skyline? We need to preserve what we have! |
| 583 | Natasha Coates | Personally, I think the Odeon should be kept upright and ideally made into a rock music venue/club as we do not have enough in Bradford and this would be perfect! If I am unlucky and it doesn't end up being a club then who cares?? At least it stayed up!! |
| 584 | John Devlin | Let's not look back with regret in the future, as we reminisce about another 'lost' building that we could so easily have saved. |
| 585 | ruth netherwood | just save it |
| 586 | Anonymous | The Odeon has a great heritage of cultural events and celebration. In the absence of other venues of this size for music and theatre events in Bradford, it should be seen as eminently suited to become a new venue.
The beautiful structure can be replenished; it compliments the Alhambra; this is an opportunity NOT to repeat mistakes made since the sixties in destroying Bradfords great buildings. Kirgate Market, Swan Arcade etc. WE DO NOT NEED MORE SHOPS OR INNER CITY FLATS. There are plenty not being occupied after completion! |
| 587 | graham tottle | this building has a lot goin for it and it is part of bradfords history at this rate their will be nothing left for us to study and see in real life what our past is all about. |
| 588 | john teska | Ah the power of the dollar..opps sorry the pound . |
| 589 | Donna Harper | |
| 590 | Katie Baldwin | |
| 591 | Viatcheslav Gavrilov | |
| 592 | jamie paine | this building has alot of potencil and shud not be demolished |
| 593 | Sally Harrop | |
| 594 | Laura Kendrick | |
| 595 | Sam Hirst | Save the odeon. it is part of our heritage. There is nothing wrong with the building. This is the only cinema in the city center. it just doesnt make sense to get rid of this building. Bradford will loose its original identity if this building was to disapear. |
| 596 | Laura Dyson | |
| 597 | Jen Mayo | In 1985 the Alhambra was almost demolished to make way for something "better". Thankfully the council saw sense ans certainly Bradford wouldn't be the same without it. Just as the Alhambra is an icon of Bradford, so too is the New Victoria, it's destruction would be an outrage and a travesty. So many beautiful pieces of archetecture have already been destroyed and replaced by modern monstrosities, let the council learn from the mistakes of the past and save a bradford landmark. |
