| 502 | Graham Meyrick | Someone has a vested interest in this great building being demolished and I strongly object. It must be preserved in its original state for future generations. |
| 503 | Andrew Heyes | Come on Bradford Council. For once do what the people want and save the Odeon. We don't want 55 miilion quids worth of offices and appartments where there used to be such enjoyment. The Odeon is a massive landmark that shold be saved. Give the people of Bradford a referendum. |

| 505 | Peter W Bale | |
| 506 | Michael McKenny | I had countless early memories of going to the cinema there. It had a million times more charm than any multiplex. If you can save it I'd love to help |
| 507 | Anonymous | I think its a lovely building and has great potential to be used as an entertainment venue. Bradford needs to look after its old buildings with character and not be knocking them down to build apartments or office blocks. Bradford also needs more to bring people in from outer regions, I live near by and very rarely go into Bradford on an evening because its not a particular nice place to go at the moment. |

| 509 | Anonymous | This famous landmark should held as a thing of beauty and put back into use as a public venue |
| 510 | Malcolm Frith | |
| 511 | Kirsty Priestley | |
| 512 | Anonymous | This building must be preserved at all cost. |
| 513 | jonny metcalfe | yup it woulld be a great place for gigs thinging about it transform it into a rios type night club!
if i had the money i would!!!!!!! |
| 514 | liz charman | It is typical and dissappointing to hear the above news as The Odeon is an important part of Bradfords' history.More than likely the hotel and complex that is being planned will be 'thrown up' in no time and pulled down again in 30 years or less due to cost cutting in structure ,material and design...and all for someones' fat profit no doubt. |
| 515 | Ian Bramble | |
| 516 | S. Raistrick | A magnificent opportunity to have a superb concert hall is about to be ruined for yet more mediocre buildings! Come on look how it payed off to invest in the Alhambra. Let's stay one step ahead of Leeds. |
| 517 | Andrew Heyes | LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE OF BRADFORD FOR A CHANGE. WE LOVE THE ODEON AS IT IS A FANTASTIC LANDMARK AND IS UNIQUE |
| 518 | ivan Thomas | Too many of theseold art deco theatres have been lost already |
| 519 | John Shrubb | This heritage building is a part of the Bradford entertainment area with a beautiful theatre next door.
Restore this cinema & create an entertainment complex on one site? |
| 520 | kj ptak | historic venues must be respected and retained. |
| 521 | Vicky Williams | Return the Odeon to it's former glory. It is a Bradford landmark and deserves some respect! |
| 522 | James Frize | this is the kind of building that we whant to keep to show our level of craftsmanship and also to show to future generations |
| 523 | Anne E. North | Alhambra pooror without Odeon, which complements it visually. It is an important example in this area of Its type of design. It would also make an excellent concert hall, much needed in the city, as St. George's hall is very bad visully. |
| 524 | Liz North | All the above comments are completely valid; in addition, the structure (even the shell) looks better than a pile of rubble which may be what we would be left with if it was demolished in preparation for a new structure........ |
| 525 | elizabeth | please save this part of english history |
| 526 | catherine paterson | please save the odeon |
| 527 | phillip marshall | think of the future not short term gain |
| 528 | Joel Walker | |
| 529 | Nathan Walker | |
| 530 | John Robinson | It would be sacrilege not to restore this fine building. There are no remaining Gaumont Palaces apart from Hammersmith (where, after many years, the Compton organ has just been restored). Now an Apollo, this is an example how such a monument to the Golden Age can be restored and kept in use. We now have no Paramount Theatres - the only two open are at Liverpool and Birmingham and they have been mutilated and beyond restoration.
Regret I now live in deepest Dorset so cannot much help with your cause. Out of interest, the Regent in Christchurch and the Tivoli in Wimborne - two small ex cinemas in small Dorset towns have been wonderfully restored to put on excellent shows - see their websites.
Good luck with your efforts. |
| 531 | Dan Upton | There is no good reason why this building can't be restored.
This country is rapidly demolishing its history and replacing it with crap. |
| 532 | Baz Miller | This is a fine building and should be saved for all to enjoy. Far too many of our 1930's cinemas have been demolished to make way for souless developments. We should try and save some of our entertainment history and culture for future generations to enjoy |
| 533 | Kelly Holt | To be honest, much of what can be said, has been said, and demonstrate..... one day you'll hear us shouting! |
| 534 | M Hart | Spend some of the money from the sale of the airport and return this building to its former glory. It must NOT be pulled down |
| 535 | Kathy Cousens | All the new buildings recently erected in Bradford are ugly and probably in a few years time will be torn down, just like Broadway. The Odeon has grace and style and perfectly compliments the Alhambra opposite. |
| 536 | Paul Tyson | I think its outreageous, this fantastic building could be saved and restored to its original splendour. It is ovbious that a lot of the interior remains.
Maud wants locking up. |
| 537 | Anonymous | Remember its what the people of Bradford want, NOT what's the cheapest option. |
| 538 | Geoff Smith | |
| 539 | Anonymous | I went shopping inLeeds the other day, spent a full day looking in all the fantastic shops.
Went into Bradford, please tell me where the shops are.
Save the odeon, make it into something - in fact make it into anything but don't knock it down PLEASE??? |
| 540 | Marie Cousens | I have many happy memories of the Odeon - a classic in British architecture from when I was a child and would greatly lament the loss if this iconic structure from the heart of Bradford. Bradfors council is too quick to pull down some of its beautiful buildings and replace them with anonymous grey structures which are turning the city into a soul-less two dimensional place. |
| 541 | p a osborne | if anything in bradford should go it should be maud marshall bradford egen and mikewhatever from bradford town hall to the famous cry npity poor BRADFORD |
| 542 | John Dowson | Far too many of these FANTASTIC concert venues are being knocked down/converted into MORE flats etc. My nephew is an accomplished musician. People such as he would dearly LOVE to perform at places such as these with all their character - not to mention fantastic organ recitals. Every opportunity should be given to retain/restore this fantastic building!! |
| 543 | ian rushforth | the odeon along with the alhambra are some of the last buildings with a sense of style in bradford the only reason they want to knock it down is because they can't see a purpose for it as there is now the multi screen cinema in bradford open your minds invest and regenerate this glorious building. |
| 544 | Lauren Chamberlain | |
| 545 | stuart hardwick | the odeon would make an excellent concert/rock
venue for a fraction of price of new build and last
longer. The development how ever has the hallmark
of sink housing estates of the 1960/70 which
disfigure towns and cities across the country |
| 546 | Anonymous | Save the ODEON!
Turn it into a big night club or something, just dont get rid of it |
| 547 | jon towns | |
| 548 | Phil Hemingway | Isn’t it about time the URC and the Council listen to what the people of Bradford actually want? A first class music venue in the heart of the city which could bring people in from miles around? Or another load of empty apartments and a hotel which will look just like every other crappy building! Save the Odeon! |
| 549 | ian jakeman | good luck to save the beautiful building- well done to ALL THE hard working people that are trying to save the building for all generations in the future- what a beautiful building that could be adapted for a great mixture of uses. |
| 550 | Lucy Carter | Please allow a second FULL structural survey to be carried out on the Odeon, Bradford.
Inspecting ONLY the two towers of the Odeon is not enough to sign it off and sentence it to death.
This wonderful piece of history deserves a fair chance.
You need to listen to what the people of Bradford want and explain why this is happening!
I will be writing to my MP and to other media channels about this disgusting lack of respect for Bradford and the people. |
