Ellie Kilyon | There is so much public support behind retaining the Odeon towers that it seems criminal to demolish it and replace it with a characterless unpopular building. What about some of the airport money being used to renovate the Odeon into a Concert Hall or conference centre??
Gav | knocking the odeon down will be a massive mistake. there is so much history in that place an if/when it goes it would be the final nail in the coffin for bradford. sad but true.
Ian Garrett | Save this iconic building!
Steven Plumb |
James Craig | basically they can't knock it down as it's part of bradford's history think about what it would be good for, think about what area it's in, could use a good part of it as a night club, since it's in the prime position to be a night club with Walkabout and Varsity, Revolution, livingstones and bambooza in the area i think it would bring a lot of money and people to bradford.
laura | make the odeon a night club!!!
Anonymous | Another 'Make even more money' out of the council tax payers

John Abson | A successful built environment depends on the lasting character of the buildings in it, and their relevance to the people who live there. Losing the Bradford Gaumont (sorry, Odeon?) is like selling the family silver - you will never get it back. Don't throw it away, it's not yours to dispose of like that.
Trevor Johnson |
R Robinson | why are we destroying another part of Bradfords heritage
Paul Bland |
Steve Barrett-White | The building is part of our National Heritage and should remain for the enjoyment of our future generations
Cameron Lloyd | We've lost so many, please don't let us lose another one!
D Quentin Bellamy | When it's gone, it's gone ... for ever.
Donna Grundy | This building is a gem. With the balastrade and unusual brickwork it should be standing proud amongst Bradfords skyline. Clean it up, get rid of the cracked shell its standing in at the front and lets see it shine once more.
Sam Grundy | Save this icon of Bradford city centre! Don't let be lost like so many others before it. Council take note!
| 470 | Ross McNeillie | Please keep this cinema, restore it to to its original condition, organ as well.
To many old cinemas go down, look at all the work that goes ino them. They look so much nicer than the things they build now. All the architectur and carvings, patterns and there is so much there to look at.

John Leeming | A splendid example of our architectural and cultural heritage which should be put to good use rather than destrroyed.
Sarah Greiner-Dudaniec |
Sarah Haran | Please, please do not knock down the Odeon, it is one of the most significant buildings in Bradford. A lot of people spent a lot of time there when it was open, me included. You just can't bring it back once its gone!
leanne williams |
sarah smart |
john bromfield | remember when it is gone it is too late
tina-Nicole Marsh | what a landmark - save the odeon
Andrew Davidson |
Andrew Moore | The most beautiful building in Bradford. Simple.
Stephen Haran | It is classic image engraved in my mind of Bradford city centre and one of the few things that makes the architecture of the city unique, much the same as the Alhambra.

Mark Latimer | Too many urban Cinemas and Theatres have already been lost -They are part of our heritage. Save the Bradford Odeon!
Meg | Some of my earliest memories were spent here, it's such a shame to see this happen :(
Anonymous |
| 486 | Shona Grange | Please keep the Odeon for music and dancing. There isn't another sprung dancefloor in Bradford but teh Ritz in Brighouse will prove it could provide it's keep. On top of that Bradford could become a venue for big bands.
Please don't have another modern box, as you can see we have plenty of those, all with signs 'to let' on them. Nobody wants them, so please don't wreck this important bit of heritage. |

The Reverend Nicholas Davis | As a former chorister at Bradford Cathedral I am all too familiar with the appalling legacy of so-called improvements which previous generations of town planners and architects inflicted on the people and public face of this city. I hope against hope that such mistakes will not be repeated and that such buildings as the former Bradford Odeon will be saved and put to good use for future generations who will appreciate them.
David Warner |
Stephen Nicholson | It is unfortunate that many local authorities do not see the need to retain the vestige of the past by the retention of 'period buildings' The UK Cinema was an intrinsic part of community life for many generations and the Odeon Cinema chain was in many cases the publics favourite choice. Too many quality buildings are being demolshed to make way for a new and inferior buildings which completely lack any character whatsoever. The CEO should remember that the Borough Council is there to serve the people not to dictate and force their own opinion as an exclusive 'right'
Bill Pedley |
Bernard Cummings | I am sure the existing Odeon building could be put to better use as a concert venue.
| 493 | Keith Loxam | On behald of my Father and Mother. I too played it once when very young and got home before the tune ended!!

Moira Parkin | Its a disgrace after letter writing, e-mailing and generally putting across how much this building means to the people of bradford its all down to money and nothing to do with what people really want. It nothing more than corrupt. Haven't these planners learnt anything from the terrible buildings that have been built in the past -The Yorkshire Building Soc at Westgate the Central Police Station, Kirkgate Market (this could have been another Leeds Victoria Quarters) ugly ugly buildings.I've suggested the planners take a look at what Leeds have acheived and stop making Bradford a laughing stock.
Anonymous | i don't see the point in knocking down a perfectly good building thats been part of bradford for years just because some person that has only lived here for a short amount of time says so.... silly woman!
Anonymous | Iam a Dutch theater organist and i hope that the wurlitzer rize again in the theater and that it will not to far in future.Jozef (Holland 2007).
steven hardcastle |
| 499 | Mark Laflin | How absurd that we should seek to pull down a building that is part of our national heritage...
Surely saving the Gaumont (Odeon) Bradford is a 'no-brainer' |
chantelle lockyer | Please don't make another mistake again!!! tearing down old beautiful buildings to make way for trashy ugly new ones!!!! Should you not be listening to what the public wants as it's our money your spending. Bring Bradford into the 21st Century!!!!!
