Name: Rosie DeCristofaro on Mar 9, 2009Comments: I believe it is very important to keep affordable tourist destinations/overnight accommodations open - especially so in this economic climate. My husband and I own a small, but well known restaurant in Callicoon and I am happy to report that we draw customers from the Lew Beach/Beaverkill area, tourists and second homeowners/summer residents alike. We urge you to keep the Beaverkill Campground open. Bob and Rosie DeCristofaro, The 1906 Restaurant, Callicoon, NY, www.1906restaurant.com.Flag

Name: Jerry Shillcock on Mar 10, 2009Comments: This campground should open on April 1st with the opening of trout season! I was there for years every weekend from 4/1 through end of season. Please do not do away with this treasure, I have 15+ friends who come annually for a week and spend our money on food, firewood, flies, and at the local eateries. We will go to another state for our week if this campground is not open, please do not close the Beaverkill Campground!Flag

Name: John S. Vojnik on Mar 10, 2009Comments: Not only will this have a negative impact on the local economy but will ruin the vacation I most look forward to each year. Myself and a large group of friends have been camping annually at the Beaverkill campground for over 30 years. During each of these week long trips (sometimes longer) each of us (9 people total) spend at least $500 in the local community. This economic downturn will not last forever and closing perhaps the most beautiful and relaxing place on earth to save a few bucks will be a tragedy. I have been to just about every state camground and there is no other campground like it . All others pale in comparison. Please, please, please DO NOT CLOSE THIS CAMPGROUND!!! If the state would really like to cut expenses the first place they should start is O.G.S. That is the most useless and wasteful department in all of state government. I say close O.G.S. and give all the money to the DEC.Flag

Name: Tom Capito on Mar 10, 2009Comments: The Beaverkill Campground is a wonderful facility that not only benefits and serves the residents of New York but also brings in others from out of state each year providing much needed economic benefit to the area. Each year 7 to 10 of my friends and I spend 7+ days in the campground. We do all of our shopping in Roscoe and Livingston Manor and do all we can in our small way to help these local business’s. Many other folks do the same. Without the campground we would no longer be going to the area and our support of the local economy would be gone. Perhaps very small when you think of our small group but I imagine very large to the local business’s when you factor all of the groups who use this great facility who may no longer come to the area. Please show the foresight to look at the bigger economic picture and keep the Beaverkill Campground open.Flag

Name: Clyde Roberts on Mar 10, 2009Comments: For more years than I can remember, a group of fine men have traveled to this campground to enjoy and partake in a yearly event that is as important to us as Christmas morning is to a child. We purchase all of our supplies, licenses, food at local businesses in Rocose and Livington Manor. To such down such a beautiful area especially in an ecomonic downturn is just adding more injury to the local community and to people who need something to uplift their spirits. Please reconsider the closing of the Beaverkill Campground!!!!!!Flag

It is my hope to someday be able to pass my knowledge along to youngsters who can then fish and camp on those hallowed watersFlag
