David BakerPlease do not close the Beaverkill Campground. This is a very special place that contributes to the local tourism economy and provides a wonderful place to trout fish in the area without being member of a private club.
Kate Humleker
Judie DV SmithPlease reconsider closing the campground. The covered bridge is on the National Historic Register and draws many photographers and artists to the area in addition to fishermen and campers to the campsite.

John BuchananBefor the last depression my family entertained guests on their farms. People from New York City came up to enjoy the country for days at a time. This tourism carried the local economy almost untill the Sullivan County Community College opened and then the hotels were in full swing. This campground is part of our heritage, economy and pride. The dollar amounts I have seen do not justify closing this productive source of revenue that the campground represents. And these dollar amounts show profit even in the two most difficult recent years. People come from Japan to fish here. There is a national museum relating to fishing nearby. People use the campground as an economical base to support ot only fishing but golf. Local equipment retailers rely on the business contingent on the campgrounds. For these reasons it makes no sense to close what has been historic reliable income for Sullivan County. Please do not allow this campground to close.
Ramsay AdamsPlease reconsider your decision to close the campground. On Saturday March 7th, community leaders from Sullivan County packed the Catskill Arts Society and agreed to fight the closing of the campground and agreed to write letters, set up meetings and to push this internet petition. We hope that this unified community action will remind you that the value of the campground for tourism in this region is far exceeds the fees and costs to actually manage the campground. The Sullivan County Tourism office estimates that the campground brings in over $750,000 a year to region.

AnonymousThis historic campsite is visited by many people who use its facilities and the almost pristine environment of the river that flows through it. Save it. A. Podell

Theda Fullercampground has been here for all my 66 years with great memories of time spent there. would be a shame to lose it for minimal savings, in comparison to impact loss would have on local tourism.
Anne Pearse Hocker
Bob MeadIncrease the camping fee a dollar or two instead of closing them.
Randy Kadish
Steve StarrantinoWith the economy the way it is you are going to find more people doing more basic activities. Campground should thrive during this period.

Eric PeperThis campground has been part of the history and literature of the region as long as I can remember. It would be tragedy, if it were lost. Eric Peper, co-author of Fly Fishing The Beaverkill
Alexis SnyderI grew up in Sullivan County. I still visit the area often, and see signs that tourism in the area is slowly but surely increasing. I have many fond memories of the Beaverkill and I urge you not to close the campground.
Paul LevyBy closing the Beaverkill Campground the negative impact on the economies of of both Livingston Manor and Roscoe will be considerably larger than the savings to the Stte of New York. Please do not shut this landmark recreational site down.

Frances WardI live in Florida but visit the area and would not like to see it closed.
Paul & Claire MurphyFor accuracy we are not legal residents of NYS but do own property in & pay taxes to NY and would like you to consider our input as valid. Thanks
Kurt L NelsonI have stayed at this camp many times over the last 25 years, although I camp at another spot I still fish there. I think this campground is a good resource for getting folks a great place to learn about fishing in the Beaverkill. To close campgrounds would mean folks have to stay at the more crowded places and ruin the experience of staying out doors. I would suggest getting rid of the computer registration company that has increased the cost of staying at the campgrounds. Computers are supposed to lower the cost of business. Just go back to filling out a paper form and lower the cost of camping, you will get more folks camping and having positive experiences in the outdoors. Thank you.
George StefankoI agree with the above statement.
Nancy LudlowThis campground is a favorite for many families & fishermen. Please keep it open!

Fred KuepperWith the way things are going with the national economy, people will be less apt to take vacations costing hundreds of dollars. Campgrounds are now, as they always have been, a vital part of the affordable type, outdoor vacation our country has enjoyed for decades.

Ed McQuatReconsider This action this part of the Catskills is one of the most scenic and enjoyed by campers, fisher people and just tourists to see the covered bridge.

Nat GillespieThe campground is important for the local economy - DEC and New York State need to take the long-term view and keep it open. How about raising camping fees to cover the difference?
