It has only been a little over 36 hours since we posted the petition for U.S. Sherlockians to support Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's home, Undershaw. As of this moment we have 443 signatures! It is simply amazing to see the outpouring of support for this historic building.We have targeted American Sherlock Holmes fans to show that the concerns about Undershaw are not limited to Conan Doyle's own country. Sherlock Holmes traveled "across the pond" in the stories, always returning to 221B Baker Street, but for American Sherlockians he took up permanent residence in our libraries, our homes, and our social groups. Of course, Holmes crosses all oceans, seas, languages, and borders. There is a global fraternity of all of us who enjoy the stories. At some point we may have another petition to show the support of all Sherlock Holmes fans for the preservation of Undershaw, but we have an immediate need to demonstrate the support of American Sherlockians.
