Name: Peter De Vlaminck on Jul 31, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: I am a high school wrestling coach that has several girls on the team. I would hope that they would have the same opportunities to wrestle after high school that I had. UMM was one of the pioneers in womens collegiate wrestling. It would be a shame to see that program cancelled when wrestling is one of the fastest growing girls sports.Flag

Name: Jeffrey Tummons on Jul 31, 2003State: KSCountry: USComments: Please do not go through with the terrible mistake you are thinking of doing. Sit down and ask yourself as educators in a higher educational institution. Are you HONESTLY making this decision based on what you are telling the public. I think not, because that would be ridiculous and an insult to our intelligence. You are ashamed to HONESTLY give the public and your fellow educators the TRUTH. It shows your lack of professionalism and that is what is most important to you instead of the students and student/athletes that you are suppose to be there for.Flag

Name: Michael LaBrosse on Jul 31, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: UM-Morris should retain both Men's and Women's wrestling programs. By retaining both, you will help in the Title IX compliance for your school.Wrestling has a long history of great Americans that competed in the sport. Each of them identifies wretling as the defining factor in building positive characteristics in their lives. Sincerely, Mike LaBrosse Head wrestling coach Hesperia, CA 2x NAIA wrestling All-AmericanFlag

Name: Eric Stafford on Jul 31, 2003State: IACountry: USComments: It would be a travesty of justice if this, or any wrestling program were cut due to title IX restraints. I believe that women deserve the same rights as men in athletics and every other aspect of life, but doing so at the expense of men's athletics is wrong. It should be up to the school which sports they sponsor. Clubs are available for nearly all sports that can't be officially sponsored by a college, so therefore it is not as if the athletes that are "in jeopardy" of not having scholarships are unable to compete. If the government is going to interfere in college athletics, they should fork out the money to allow schools to fund all sports, regardless of the participants' sex.Flag

Name: Amanda Muncer on Jul 31, 2003State: TXCountry: USComments: This is one of only about 8 college wrestling opportunities for women in the United States. Getting rid of the wrestling program is going to hurt the school because athletes will go elsewhere. For women, this makes the diffrence of staying in the US or going to Canada for college. Think about it.Flag
