Comments: This building can be saved. It is high time big businesses, people, councils and the rest started to appreciate that we need to retain places like this, places of culture and hubs of community in order to retain meaning in our increasingly alientated society. What is more this building represents part of Edinburgh's history and heritage (as well as cinematic). It would be far more prudent and appreciative to save and refurbish this building than in ten years time to have the demand for a community centre, or such, be met with another hollow glass structure - costing the same amount of money or more.

Comments: As an Edinburgh resident, born and bred here, I am shocked at how many of these significant structures are being allowed to decline and deteriorate, when Edinburgh so badly needs arts venues. What it doesn't need are more shops! Let's retain it for the cultural life of this wonderful city

Comments: The Odeon was a lovevly cinema to sit in, I watched many a film there over my 60 years (life long) living in the South Side of Edinburgh, Recently I was in the Fountainpark Complex and it comes no where near the quaility of the Odeon.

Comments: This year Edinburgh is the City of Literature, and it would be a shame if the cinema which is a clear allotrope of Literature were to lose out.

Comments: Dont let such an amazing work of art be ruined. Edinburgh should treasure the building, and use it, and keep it going for future generations to enjoy.

Comments: hi, I used to work in this cinema before they closed it - a great piece of recent history for the city, as both a cultural and architectural landmark! Find a new use for this great building - that's what Edinburgh does best - retains all it's histories! Paul

Comments: It's a fantastic building, one that Newington could do with keeping. It would also be a very welcome cinema/events centre, as the area is very much lacking one.

Comments: The old Odeon is an absolutely beautiful building, inside and out. It should be a listed and protected piece of art deco history and not ripped down to be replaced by some hideous modern monstrosity. I for one would love to see it returned to it's previous role as a cinema.
