Name: David-John Pitts on Jan 29, 2011Comments: It is my belief that this building is worthy saving as it is one of the few remaining Art Deco cinema in Scotland and I therefore back the petition for CPO of the building. and the selling of the building to someone who is willing to allow for the full restoration of the building as multi-arts venue.Flag

Name: Roy Powell on Jan 29, 2011Comments: It would be a travesty to NOT resurrect the Odeon cinema/theatre as a venue for media and the arts. To do otherwise will deprive the residents of Edinburgh of a significant contribution to their culture and would further reduce the city's standing as a leading centre for culture in Scotland.Flag

Name: Andy Gilmour on Jan 29, 2011Comments: This is an iconic building on Edinburgh's south side - let's not follow Glasgow's shameful example of letting much of their city centre architectural heritage be vandalised through commercial developers' (often deliberate) negligence.Flag

Name: Gloria Lo on Jan 29, 2011Comments: The building is of art deco style, the interiors in particulr would be a great loss should it be left to ruins or demolished. We cannot let this happen to what is part of our heritage and a unique piece of the urban fabric that draws attention even to the untrained eye of the public.Flag

Name: Hannah Paton on Jan 30, 2011Comments: As a student of community education who specializes in community arts I believe greatly in this cause. At the moment there is a huge lack of multi-arts venues in the centre of Edinburgh, a City that is renowned for its arts culture. With the recent close of arts venues such as Roxy Arthouse and the Big Red Door and with the Forest cafe being under threat- we are in need of an arts centre that allows the arts to be more accessible to those who would not usually get involved. Save the odeon! It is so important.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 30, 2011Comments: Please initiate urgent compulsory repairs to make the building wind and water tight and halt the deterioration that has taken place over the past few years. Also set in motion compulsory purchase proceedings so that ownership of the building can be transferred to someone who will fully restore it and bring it back into use as a cinema and arts venue.Flag
