Comments: This building should be saved and sold to someone who wants to retain as many of it's features as possible. There are too many bland modern buildings being built in Edinburgh and this had character and history and when it's gone it can't be replaced. It should also not be allowed to sit and rot.

Comments: I support this 100%. We need to protect and cherish our listed buildings, and use them for the people of Edinburgh. I would wholeheartedly denounce the demolition of this building (full or partial), and its architectural features, in any way. Edinburgh has a duty to the people who live here, to listen to them and not be swayed by developers waving large sums of money around and going ahead with whatever they want.

Comments: There are organisations willing to buy the Odeon, restore it, and return it to cinema/arts use, and they have the funding to do so. If the present owners won't sell, and continue to peddle the fiction that the building is not economically viable unless demolished, the Council should step in with a Compulsory Purchase Order and arrange an immediate back-to-back sale to a new and sympathetic owner. The time for backroom politics is over; the Odeon must be restored to its rightful place at the heart of Southside and Edinburgh life.

Comments: Clerk Street is looking dead and ragged. It needs a destination venue such as the Odeon, to bring back some life. The new Odeon on Lothian Rd is horrible. Who wants to go to a cinema in a basement? I miss the cafe at the Clerk St Odeon as well.

Comments: Edinburgh doesn't need another hotel. It would be a terrible shame to lose this building in its current form - the inside is beautiful and should be kept intact (that means repair as well as not granting permission to change it substantially - if Historic Scotland feel that strongly about it then they should put some funding up).
