Comments: I spent the first 18 years of my life growing up next to and around the Battlefield before I joined the Marine Corps. I would be deeply saddenned to come back from leave to visit my home and see the Battlefield littered with highways and development. Please keep this National Park pristine, and prevent those in the future that will also try to build on this land. The National Battlefield Park exists to teach us about our nation, where we come from, what we did to get where we are today, as the greatest nation in this world. And most importantly, it's a tangible reminder of the values and fundamentals upon which this country is built. God Bless the U.S.A.

Comments: Please do not let trickle-down-greed blind you to the historic treasure, and ecological necessity, we have in keeping Manassas and its famous battlefield as it is now, without encroachment. Please honor the men who fell there, and the people who live near there now, by taking your plans elsewhere or giving them up for the good of others, if that's a concept you can imagine.

Comments: In addition to the battlefield, we need to preserve the western side of Prince William County, the trees and wildlife that exist there today. We need to slow the growth rate, thus accomplishing this and saving the Battlefield!

Comments: Adding lanes to I-66 is a more logical solution than disruping the park and all the neighborhoods around there. The US taxpayer doesn't need to foot the bill to displace bunch of existing homeowners so that the land developers can get rich because now they've got better roads to places for more strip malls and McDonald's restaurants, not to mention unending pockets of "trac home heaven." Go fix the existing road and leave the battlefield in peace!!

Comments: Prior to retiring to Wyoming I lived just a few miles from the Manassas Battlefield and spent many a wonderful day enjoying the park. The areas around the park always seemed to be structured in such a way to preserve the tranquillity and solemnness that reflects the reason for the creation of the park. A sensible alternative to the proposed highway project would be to widen I-66 which should be able to handle the excessive traffic pattern in that area. It would seem that such an option would also be cheaper in the long run.

Comments: The only logical solution is to add lanes to about three miles of I-66 (which crosses Va. Rt. 29 east and west of the battlefield). The reason 29 is getting so much traffic is the terrible commuter congestion on 66. That wouldn't disrupt any neighborhoods and would cost fewer U.S. Tax dollars -- your money, too -- than any of the bypasses. That should be a no-brainer, but the developers have their plans, and the Virginia Dept. of Transportation wants I-66 preserved for long-distance travel -- which is a joke.
