Name: Christopher Portch on May 22, 2003State: VACountry: USComments: The traffic at peak times through park is bail out traffic from I-66 .People who live west of the park and further south on Rt 29 are avoiding the overcrowded I-66. The notion that a bypass is needed for local traffic around the Park is ridiculous. The only benefit of a bypass road would be to developers. The best solution to protect the National Park and the rest of the historic battlefield area would be to widen I-66. Route 29 and Route 234 should be gated at the entrance to the Battlefield to allow only Park and local Residents.Flag

Name: Charles Grasley on May 22, 2003State: PACountry: USComments: I lived in Fairfax county for 7 years & worked there for 15. The urban growth in Northern Va. is out of control. As soon as there is road improvment, the developers follow which defeats the purpose of the improvments. I currently live in Gettysburg, PA and enjoy the National Battlefield Park located here. The park service in Gettysburg tries to buy out any property that borders the park whenever it becomes available and is feasible. They are not always successful which is a shame.Flag
