Here it is: Joliet, Illinois needs a better grocery store!! This town consists of Jewels, Wal-marts, and grocery stores that claim they "sell-for-less." We all know the prices of Jewel and expecially their Organic section! Really? Who can really thrive, or be satisfied off of what they are offering at that cost? The answer is nobody. 

I am on a mission: To save the health of my hometown with a neighborhood food store like Trader Joe's. I can not stand the fact any longer that I have to drive at 7:30am on Sunday's 3 TOWNS OVER to shop at a healthy, innovative, low-cost!, ORGANIC, different, satisfying, welcoming, fun, grocery store!!!!!!!!! Come on, please. Boo. I want, or let me say, WE NEED this shopping experience near-by, all of us! I know too many people in my own chain of family and friends who have to take stinkin day trip to Naperville or Orland to grab organic groceries. It's ridonkulous.

I love Joliet. I have grown-up here and my family is here - proud facts. But the truth of the matter is I am a health junkie and Joliet isn't.  For 5 years I have been reading Clean Eating Magazine and Nutrtion Action Newsletter(This is the #1 watchdogg of the FDA!), and the "clean" food we should be eating (no preservatives, dyes, additives, fillers, antibiotics, hormones...) is simply not abundant at your average grocery store like Jewel and Wal-mart. Yes, I know, some is, but for example: Hormel Bacon with no preservatives (Nitrates totally cause cancer) is $6.99 at Jewel and trader Joe's has like 20 different kinds and they start at $2.99!! These simple facts are making me want to move to a town with better, healthier, cheap options. I don't want to. I want to stay right here in my lovely home and see the children I teach have a chance to eat better.

I 100% believe that Trader Joe's is just what Joliet families need to not feel intimidated to eat healthy- cause let's face it - money rules and I am the first to understand that completely!! If you can't afford it-you just can't buy it. So let's do this. Sign my petition if you believe in organic! Sign it if you would shop there even once a month! Sign it if you already love Trader Joe's! Sign it if you know someone who would shop there even if they don't live here! Help the families of Joliet that need to shop something new and help stop their temptations of garbage food. I believe these signatures will make it happen. ps. If you didn't know, Trader Joe's is a small store like Aldi for a quick shopping trip....awesome!!
