Name: Viva Ruiz on Jun 18, 2009Comments: We use our voting power to elect people who can protect the interest of ALL new yorkers, not just a small elite class of business men. Coney Island is to important to sacrifice in the name of big business. The loss of park space will have negative effects for generations to come, and is a heartbreak to us New Yorkers who were raised here and have seen so much character of this city lost to franchises and greed. CONEY is an affordable resort destination for the poor and working class families of NYC. If you betray us now politicians of New York, we will remember come election time.Flag

Name: Viva Ruiz on Jun 18, 2009Comments: We elect politicians to protect the interest of all New Yorkers, not only the interests of a small wealthy minority. To reduce the size of the park so drastically and prioritize instead high rise condos negates the interests of New Yorkers that patron Coney Island. This is a majority with voting power, the poor, working class. Do not betray the interests of many in the name of greed, or even shortsightedness. We have seen much of the character of this city replaced with franchises and condos. Coney should already be under landmark protection. Keep Coney a resort for families too strapped to afford vacations outside of the city. That is what my family did with me, and the memories I have of Coney as a child are invaluable magical treasure that nothing like Great Adventure or Disney can ever rival. Coney IS New York City. As precious as the Empire State and the Twin Towers. Betray us now politicians, and we will remember come voting time.Flag
