Let's make it possible for others to continue their higher education aspirations by supporting our community colleges. Fund them and give them the respect they so richly deserve.Flag

The priorities of this administation are clearly in contadicction to open education for everybody. The needisest student are the ones that one more time will suffer the hardest. Forget about politics and finally make the right thing. DO NOT CUT COMMUNITTY COLLEGES ANY MORE.Flag

Name: Caterina Maw on Apr 23, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: The goverment wonders why our children are not as educated as other countries. For one the other countries care about their education. They don't take away from it. If the goverment keeps taking away from the education of this counrty then our children will be stupid. I worry for my children in elementary that their future won't be as good as mine was. And for my sister who is in college trying to get through college on her own. Why should our future workers/children be punished for our stupid goverments mistakes simply because the dum governer couldn't keep from messing California up with his mistakes. Our children should pay the price for his stupid mistake. Why not get the money from the higher ups that cause all the problemsFlag

Name: Angela Cortez on Jun 30, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: I didn't think this would really affect me until after tonight. Today was the first day of the summer semester, and I along with 62 other students (trust me, i counted) stood outside the ONE philosophy class being offered during this session, hoping to get a seat, but knowing too well that we wouldn't. There were supposed to be 4 of these classes this semester, and it was cut down to one. For shame, Gray Davis. Those of us who can't afford to go to a Cal State or a UC school look to Community College as way to broaden our horizons and make something of ourselves. You've just held me back in school for at least another year or two (that is, if I can even afford tution now) thanks to your budget cuts. Get out of office, and then get out of town!Flag

Name: Sandi Thornton on Jul 15, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: As someone who lives in a rural area where the only access to higher education is our local community college, I know first hand the importance of the Community College system. It is difficult enough for the average (not rich) person to achieve higher education in this state. If these unfair budget cuts continue we are going to have a less educated populace which leads to a lower quality of life not only for those individuals but their surrounding communities.Flag
