Name: Weiping Ding on Apr 7, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: We acknowledge that budget cuts involve difficult and painful decisions. However, there is an important element of equity and fairness that should be distributed across the higher educational systems. The Governor's proposals advocate inequitable cuts to the California Community College system. This will further limit student access for under-represented students in our already under-funded community colleges. We, the undersigned, oppose this approachFlag

Name: Kenneth Wesson on Apr 7, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: Equity is a critical factor as the state legislature and the Governor consider funding increases AND funding decreases for higher education. Let's make certain that all segments of higher education receive the same level of funding cuts during this budgetary crisis.Flag

Name: Marjorie Clark on Apr 7, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: These proposed budget cuts to community colleges target and hurt the citizens who need a college education the most. Those who are first generation, who haven’t had the access to a good education, who are striving to achieve a better life for themselves and their families need community colleges to stay open and remain affordable. It is there last hope for a better life and a piece of the American dream. Education not Prisons!Flag

Name: Roi Ann Thompson on Apr 7, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: The proposed CCC cuts are disproportionate, and would deny access to tens of thousands of community college students. Name: Diana Rodriguez on Apr 7, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: I've been with the San Jose/Evergreen CCD for meerly four months. Due to budget cuts, I've already been warned that my position will likely either be cut, or I'll be bumped by someone with more seniority. This can all be avoided if unfair budget cuts to Commuity Colleges are stopped. I left a private company which paid me a lot more money so that I can become a stat employee and get the job security everyone told me about. I love my job and need to express that these unfair cuts affect me and my family directly. Please do state budget cuts fairly. Community colleges should not get hit so hard. Thank you.Flag
