Lee HetheringtonI have been diagnosed with asthma / COPD for a decade or more. My symptoms had been under control for the most part until recently. The change that occurred was the banning of CFC based Albuterol Inhalers. Since the ban I have been prescibed the HFA ProAir Inhaler. I find this product to be only minimally effective after the first 6-10 uses, mostly ineffective from then on. The Mfg. says it should last for 200 doses. The basis for this determination is as follows: 1) After I administer a dose the relief of wheezing & shortness of breath is less than I experience with the CFC type generic inhalers. 2) The minimal amount of relief is shorter, the symptoms return sooner. Since this is the only available drug for short term, immediate use, I use it far more often (2-3 times more often). 3) In general my asthma condition has gotten much worse since I began using the HFA inhalers. I have developed a chronic cough, and my lungs are congested. I had had a "reactive airway issue" that had almost disappeared, well controlled with the CFC inhaler. That symptom has returned & is far more severe using the HFA product.CA
Shannon LafayetteAs a healthcare provider and an asthmatic person I have trialed and found that The HFA (inhaler) are an inferior product and do not provide the relief as does the CFC (inhaler). It is quite alarming the FDA continues with the propaganda that the two are equal when in truth they are notMA
Tahney JohnstonI hate the new inhalers. I am pregnant and they are not working. I am scared to death for me and my baby. I am using an expired inhaler just to breathe. This is ridiculous to get rid of the ones that let me live a good life.CA

michael wilkinsonThe new style inhalers are not working for me and are adversely affecting my work performance, life outside of work and my sleep patterns. I have been through ProAir, Proventil HFA and Xopenex with no luck. My asthma is getting progressively worse and has led to missed work days and having to go to the er for nebulizer treatments since this change. The amount of CFC in the original inhalers was neglible and the cost in increased healthcare up to and including possible deaths due to this is outrageous not mention the increased price of the new inhalers that do not help with symptoms. I would think the government would be concerned about the health of their people but once again we have been let down and forced into a situation where we have been thrown to the wayside over some unthought out idea that an exemption for a life saving inhaler that asthmatics and COPD sufferers need to function is unnecessary regardless of what the flawed studies show. With the tone of pollutants put in the air daily from so many sources it is inexcusable to deny deserving patients the medicine they need tolive a normal life.KY

AnonymousThese new CFC-Free inhalers cause my taste buds to swell up. I also need three or four puffs from them to feel as though I can breathe normally if I have an attack. Not effective.TX

I WILL DO WHAT I HAVE TO OR TO PROVE A POINT MANY PEOPLE WILL NOT FORGET WHAT I WILL BE FORCED TO DO. "GOD"IN
Tina PennI know at least 3 people who have had problems with these new inhalers. They have been hospitalized more than once since the change.MO
AnonymousThe new HFA inhalers are a frightening prospect for asthmatics. I have been on a regular inhaler for years which controlled my asthma just fine. When the HFA came out, my asthma increased to the point to I made 4 times as many doctors and hospital visits and spent 4 times the amount of money trying to relieve my asthma. I want the old inhalers back. This is an outrage to asthmatics everywhere.TX

Leif EldevikI have used a rescue inhaler for 20 years. I currently use ProAir as my rescue inhaler because I have been given no other option. The older CFC inhalers were an order of magnitude more effective. I can not tell when the ProAir is running low. I must use it more often and in a larger dose for the same effect and I pay five times the copay for this inferior product because there is no generic brand available. CFC inhalers must be brought back.CA
Nancy hookAlbuterol was the only inhaler that has helped me. Please bring it back. I had a major asthma attack and the PROAIR inhaler could not settle it down. I ended up taking prednisone, which is harmful to the body. What is more important: lives or the ozone?MN
