| 2501 | Robin | please bring back the cfc inhalers. are you waiting for the mortality and morbity review to take place too late for too many.... | FL |
| 2502 | Melissa Fincke | I have had severe asthma for nearly all 28 years of my life. I used the CFC Albuterol inhaler from 1989 through early 2008 as a rescue inhaler, and it has greatly improved my independence from the nebulizer delivery method and my overall quality of life. My inhaler has been my constant companion for the past 19 years. Since I made the change to the ProAir HFA inhaler earlier this year, I have often found myself over-medicating myself to get the instant results I once gained from 2 puffs of my CFC inhaler. In addition, the results are not nearly as long lasting with the ProAir HFA inhaler. As many have sited here, the panic that I experience when my breathing is not improved after using the ProAir HFA inhaler, is very disturbing. I consider myself a concerned, responsible citizen when it comes to protecting the environment, but I must argue that this change was not well researched prior to its implimentation among asthma sufferers. Please reconsider the change to HFA inhalers for now and research a more effective delivery system for this medication in the future. Thank you! | OH |
| 2503 | Anonymous | My wife died 2 years ago. She had a bad asthma
problem. If she hadn't died this insanity would have killed her. Bring back common semse. | AL |
| 2504 | Liz Nakata | I hate my new inhaler. I didn't realize it was "new" until I noticed that it took more puffs to treat my wheezing and I also went through my inhaler faster. This inhaler also costs me more because there isn't a "generic" alternative. The bottom line for me is that this new inhaler isn't as effective in giving me instant relief when I'm having an asthma attack. This creates a lot of anxiety for me especially when I realize that I may not get immediate relief! Please bring the original CFC inhalers back! | OH |
| 2505 | james b. taylor | | CO |
| 2506 | Sarah Nasello | I am very disappointed with the ban of the CFC inhalers. After several tries with the HFA inhalers, I have gone back to the CFC every time. I have a negative reaction to the HFA mist, which burns my lungs and seems to remain in my palate for several hours. I find very little relief, if any, from it. The CFC inhalers provide immediate relief, and are affordable and easy to use. I care about the environment, but I won't be able to enjoy it if I can't breathe. Please help us. | ND |
| 2507 | Jake Yellowdog | Doing this for my friend Kristi and her son Ryan who desperately need these inhalers. | GA |
| 2508 | Anonymous | I am using the new one , it helps a little but I bet I could breath better with the the old ones ,I need more medicine in puffs , it's sad :( | IA |

| 2510 | Barbara Burnside | I tried the Pro Air HFA inhaler.
By the third day, I was coughing up BLOOD!!
If the FDA goes through with this insanity, it will be a death sentence for me!
STOP IT NOW!! | TX |
| 2511 | Peter Elliott | I hate the non cnc propellant inhalers. They don't work well and I fear for my life, literally, with these new inhalers. It's completely ridiculous. | CA |
| 2512 | Donna Rivers | II was diagnosed with Asthma a few years ago. I was first prescribed albuterol, about a year ago I was switched by my pharmacy to Pro Air. I immediately noticed it didn't help! I have to use the Pro Air 3 times to one puff on the albuterol inhalers. After 3 puffs of Pro Air I am light headed, my heart is racing, and I am shaking all over. I am all for protecting the environment but not at the risk of our lives. I have not see one person who said they Pro Air works as well for them. Please, bring back the old formula!!! | NC |
| 2513 | Anonymous | Proair does not work. I think that the government is unfair on this situation. If I die from respiratory failure, I hope my family has enough sense to sue the higher ups for negligence. A class action suit is in the making. I hope that no one in government offices has an asthmatic child or accuaintance. I really miss the relief that I would feel with my Ventolin inhaler. Why hasn't the government banned Cigarettes altogether. They pose a greater danger to all living things. I guess the tabacco companies have more pull than people with lung disorders. I wish my broncials were clear and I could feel the exhale. thanks for nothing | CA |
| 2514 | Robert R Shaver | These new HFA inhalors are horrible. $50 for an inhalor when I used to pay $15, because I don't have insurance... now I HAVE to go to the emergency room at least once a month to get a new inhalor, but this is minor compared too how ineffective they are.
In October of 2007, for the FIRST TIME EVER, that I can remember... I was diagnosed with ashtma before I even remember it, Remember having to leave class early to use a nebulizar everyday before PE in school. I've known asthma my entire life...I used to be using Vanceril, Intal, and Proventil inhalors everyday.
When I went to the hospital my HFA inhalor wasn't treating my symptoms at all, they only continued to progress... they immediatly started me on a 45 mintute nebulizar treatment... which didn't do anything. They then started giving me deep muscle corticosteroid shots, and put an IV on saline and a drip in my right arm... and started a second treatment....
Still nothing... my Sp02 stat was still in the low 80s, they gave me a secocond steroud injection through the IV, and started a 3 treatment. I had had an obscene amount of albuterol at this point and my heart rate was about 150... this is about the time when they inserted a second IV line into my left arm and were preparing a paralytic so they could intubate me. When FINALLY the large amount of IV steroids and albuterol had a minor effect... enough so I didn't have to be intubated... but barely.
I was hospitalized for three days after this. Nebulizar treatments every 2 hours, and for the first day an IV steroid injection every 6.
Don't tell me HFA work fine... I experience first hand just how unreliable they are, and just how in jeopardy us asthmatics are now... this forced change is going to cost a large amount of lives... for nothing.
Also, HFA apparently rots your teeth extremely fast. Started having to use them when they first came out. I've already had to get what was left of on tooth pulled after it broke, and a second one is beyong being worth trying to repair. Along with many cavities now also.
One last minor thing... they clog too much to be reliable now... | ME |
| 2515 | Theresay | I have friends that need this. Don't take there lifes away from them | CA |
| 2516 | Tammy Rojo | | CA |
| 2517 | Anonymous | . | MA |
| 2518 | Carol Gordon | Please reconsider!
The Proventil HFA inhaler does not work. Why is the medical community not more concerned about the "consumer" & their best interest. Fight this! | TN |
| 2519 | kimk | HFA inhalers are horrible.. you can't even feel anything. It not only costs 2x as much but you need to use 2x the amount but that is great for drug profits ..right..???My grandmother's asthma is very bad and she now takes pred at the first sign of a weeze because she can no longer count on her rescue inhaler. | CT |
| 2520 | Kristin S | These inhalers simply do not reach the lungs like the CFC inhalers. I used to go through one Albuterol inhaler over a 3 month period. Now I go through one ProAir inhaler every 3 weeks!! Nothing else has changed to affect my asthma. I went from being a perfectly stable asthmatic to being scared that I am going to get into a serious situation and my new enviroment friendly rescue inhaler will not save me. This is a matter of life and death for people. It is completely irresponsible for the FDA to force this change. How many people will need to die before they see this? | GA |
| 2521 | Donna Rinderle | I am a health insurance broker as well as an asthma sufferer. I have a $1000..00 drug deductible and I need my inhaler. My clients who are asthmatic patients are suffering trying to pay their insurance premiums that have been rated due to asthma. Please keep the CFC inhalers. We all need them to breathe easier and at an affordable cost! | NC |
| 2522 | Laura Hayner | I simply cannot get on top of even a minor asthmatic episode with the HFA inhaler! There is no fear in the world like the one you feel when you are suffocating, and solution is very simple! Bring back my medicine, please. | CA |
| 2523 | Anonymous | Please bring back CFC inhalers. | TN |
| 2524 | Anonymous | | NY |
| 2525 | christine | I NEED THE OLD ALBUTEROL RESCUE INHALER! WITH THE (CFC) CAN ANYONE HELP? PLEASE!!!!
I CAN' T BREATH ANYMORE!!! | PA |
| 2526 | NIcole Sassone | I have severe chronic asthma please don't take my inhaler way | FL |
| 2527 | Pete | I tried the HFA inhalers out in January, and my asthma quickly took a turn for the worse. I needed to use it more often and the sensation of relief was not 100% and lasted for a much shorter time. When I switched back to a CFC inhaler in February, I finally started feeling like myself again, breathing much better. Please do not go through with the ban. | NJ |
| 2528 | Allison Wilkins | The new inhalers are ineffective. I have to take 4 doses of the ProAir inhaler to stop an asthma attack (vs. the one time with albuterol CFC). They give me serious heart palpitations. Please bring the old inhalers back. | NV |
| 2529 | David Watson | | CA |
| 2530 | Kai Bryant | | CA |
| 2531 | Michael Berg | EPA overboard with another item. | FL |
| 2532 | stewart berg | bring back the old ones | MA |

| 2534 | charles lazzareschi | | WI |
| 2535 | sb | | FL |
| 2536 | KAREN DEITRICK | The HFA inhalers simply do not work for me. I have COPD with chronic bronchitis and get absolutely no relief with these inhalers. It's terrible not being able to breathe. | FL |
| 2537 | Deborah Honer | I am a T1 paraplegic. I have severe Autonaumic Dysreflexia. When I have a severe attack of this, my breathing is VERY MUCH AFFECTED. Even with the forceful puff, I have problems getting enough medication in me, because, as you all know, YA JUST CANNOT BREATE IN HARD ENOUGH TO GET THE MED INTO YOUR LUNGS! Which is why the forceful puff is necessary! I only have severe attacks about twice a year, but when I have them, they are very bad. Autonaumic Dysreflexia happens in Spinal Cord Injured persons when an "irritant" happens below the level of the person's injury. So SOMETIMES my bowel movements cause this to happen.
I would support banning all smokers from smoking. I would even support a strong prison sentence. WHY? Because all this seems like "culling" the population. | WI |
| 2538 | Anonymous | Please reconsider these inhalers as WE KNOW THEY WORK!!!!!!!! It all seems to be about money. Our current government seems to be fixated on getting us hooked on perscripition drugs. | CA |
| 2539 | Marylin Dorsey | end the madness! start thinking! as taxpayers, voters, we also have a voice....want to hear it?!!
bring back the medicine we need! | FL |
| 2540 | Bette Russell | | FL |
| 2541 | Dean Matherly | They're called RESCUE inhalers for a reason!
The HFA inhalers are NO substitute for the CFC ones and people WILL suffer. Please put the "care" back in healthcare. | CA |
| 2542 | Marion Trelle | Please, Please bring back the CFC inhalers. The HFA ones don't work and I can't get the fast relief that I need during an asthma attack. They are worthless and more expensive. | WI |
| 2543 | Sharon Lauck | | MO |
| 2544 | Rich OShea | I am an American citizen and I have a long history of asthma and currently use the Albuterol CFC inhaler for my asthma breathing condition, attacks. Acknowledging CFC inhalers are highly beneficial and the results are highly successful with controlling asthma and providing fast acting resolution. I am in full support and vote to keep the Albuterol CFC inhalers on the market and continue to be permitted for medical treatment. | PA |
| 2545 | Steven A. Myers, MD, ABFP | I have used and prescribed albuerol MDIs for years. Earlier this year I personally tried the HFA preparation, and found it to be much less effective for the relief of bronchospasm. Additionally, the unit itself requires frequent cleaning, which is often incomplete, despite diligent attention to appropriate methods. The amount of CFC released by the use of an albuterol inhaler is insignificant. This issue is a significant public health issue that is not being recognized by our elected officials and being glossed over by other regulators. | NC |
| 2546 | Anonymous | I have to get on my nebulizer more. I will keep it hand and use it twice a day. I tried the Hfa for 2 months - breathing got worse and congestion relief was very short term. I pray that someone will do something about the FDA and the way they handle drugs these days. They are not saving the environment. They are making asthma sufferers sick. I will try to get the cfc in other countries | MA |
| 2547 | Keith Winkler | The petitioners' comments send a powerful message . . . but to whom? Unless a member of Congress agrees to author legislation, this petition is a waste of time. Is anyone advocating for asthmas sufferers by contacting people on Capitol Hill? | CA |
| 2548 | Arthur Abramson | Yes, Keith, we are in contact with the appropriate committee and subcommittee staff in the House and Senate (as well as key members' staff) and we will update all petitioners shortly with our first email. I don't want the petition to become a forum, but since we have missed our deadline to send out the first email, I'm happy to reply to your question now. We can be contacted at sponsor@savecfcinhalers.org if there are any other questions, but we will be contacting you all very soon. Thanks for all of the great comments- and PLEASE FILE your online MEDWATCH complaints against any HFA inhaler brand you've had a medical problem with. (The MedWatch link is on the right side of the petition, halfway down- this is critical!) | CA |
| 2549 | Charles Jenkins | This is an outrage. How many people will have to die before this band is reversed? HFA inhalers provide no warning when they are running low which will lead to deaths. Many asthmatics are poor and without insurance and these "discounts" should not be relied on because in the end the market price is what many people will pay. It is also my experience that the HFA inhalers are not nearly as effective as the CFC ones. I am deeply sadden by this unnecessary and tragic banning of this lifesaving medicine. | IL |
| 2550 | Lahle Wolfe | Hey, at least with all us asthmatics who will not be able to breath without inhalers we will be spewing fewer carbon dioxide particles into the air. Of course, without inhalers, we could also die. Then our decomposing bodies would spit more carbon into the air! Yes, I am mad. | CA |
