Name: Carrie Haddad on Feb 24, 2011Comments: The convenience of a parking place nearby is not a good reason to demolish a beautiful, historic house. And shame on the Dept. of Mental Health for not maintaining the structure all along. The problems with the foundation (if there are problems) should have been adressed long ago. Shame on them.Flag

Name: Deborah Kinney on Feb 24, 2011Comments: I have never passed this building when I didn't marvel at it's historic beauty and wonder who will someday buy it and restore it to it's glory like so many of the other historic buildings on that stretch of Columbia Street. Tearing it down to put up a parking lot would be shameful, negatively impact the value of the houses around it that have been so lovingly restored, and fly in the face of Hudson's claim of protecting it's architectural heritage.Flag

Name: Margaret Saliske on Feb 24, 2011Comments: I'm very supportive of the services provided by Mental Health Assoc. in our community and their need to serve many of our residents, however I strongly oppose demolition of this building. It would put a hole in the historic fabric of Hudson that we will regret for many many years. Being able to identify with our community history is important to our mental health.Flag

Name: Nicholas Kahn on Feb 24, 2011Comments: A travesty if this is allowed to happen when so many better alternatives are there. Empty lots all over town. Only a few houses from this period of hudsons great history left. Anyone who votes to let this happen should be kicked out of office in the next electionFlag

Name: Eileen Halloran on Feb 24, 2011Comments: This building must be preserved for the benefit of all of the citizens of Hudson. The Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties should sell the building and use the proceeds to fund its construction of replacement space. The Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties is a fine orgaznization meeting a community need. By selling this building and enabling its preservation, the MHA not only gets funds towards the new construction, the MHA also demonstrates its commitment to being a good neighbor.Flag

Name: Philip A. Forman on Feb 24, 2011Comments: Our historic buildings are not only a public trust they are creators of public wealth in the form of tourism, retail commerce and investment. The destruction of these buildings is simply stealing from the public in the name of convenience and inexcusable lack of imagination.Flag

An example of preservation is the Hudson Opera House, Cannonball Factory and Helsinki. It has revived the community and brought many people in increasing our economical growth.Flag

Name: Patrick Young on Feb 24, 2011Comments: too much of what makes our country great is being destroyed to make way for new. We must celebrate our history and preserve these important sgtructures to remind us of where we have come from. Would you knock down the Acropolis in Athens or the Coliseum in Rome for a Wal-Mart or super Target? Clearly those buildings are not used and in pretty bad shape.Flag

Name: Chad Weckler on Feb 24, 2011Comments: Hudson's success relies on the respect we have in who we are and where we live. We must build on our successes, and demolition of this property is disrespectful of the good that has been done and what is still possible to do.Flag
