53 King St in Blackburn is a Georgian Townhouse which is threatened with demolition by the local council so that they can build a road. The house was listed in 1987 by the very same council to stop it from being demolished to build a road. This house was built in the 1780's & still has interior features from the 1840's which set it apart, maknig it a hidden gem. The council have been told that they must now hold a public enquiry be for a decision can be made as to the future of this building. The reason for this petition is to show the local council that our Heritage must be preserved for future generations to enjoy & study.

Annette Topping, United Kingdom4 years ago Comments: Please dont demolish this fine old building, youve lost enough of Blackburns history, lets find a use for it, once its gone, youll regret it in the future there wont be anything for our children and grandchildren only tacky buildings that wont last look at the shopping centre for one,King St is one of the oldest areas left in Blackburn, I think you should shut off King st and make it a feature fo rthe town. you spend enough money on these stupid ugly sculptures, there the future eyesores, please take note thankyou
