Name: Francesca Romeo on Nov 2, 2007Comments: I know the gentlemen that run 200 Orchard both personally and professionally. I believe it is imperative that they are able to secure a liquor license for their business. They have shown immeasurable support for other local businesses in the neighborhood and the community of the Lower East Side in general. It would be a great shame to see responsible and considerate members of the business community rendered incapable of providing their service to the greater community. Everyone who works at 200 Orchard Bar has accrued a lot of experience in the service industry. The staff at 200 Orchard is exemplary and each of their individual work experiences contributes to running a safe establishment and creating an amicable environment for their patrons. I feel it is urgent to recognize people who sincerely want to make the Lower East Side a great place to visit, and their bar is indicative of what the SLA should look to support by allowing the business community to grow and expand in a positive manner.Flag

Name: Paul Wallace on Nov 2, 2007Comments: the LES is built around music, art and culture. How is it possible that it is not in the best interest of the community. Maybe not for the rich people moving in. Someone needs to just say that it is because these people move in, drive up prices and kick everyone out of the hood that they moved to b/c it was cool and trendy. Before you know it, it's the UWS.Flag

Name: Markus Miller on Nov 2, 2007Comments: 200 Orchard is one of the few quality establishment that brings progessive music culture to the degrading Lower East Side night life. They have more right to stay open than these most of the new cultureless establishments that have opened in the neighborhood. With the closing of pioneering establishments such as Tonic, Sin-e, and Luna Lounge which brought the influx of businesses and development in the first place, the closing of 200 Orchard will only antagonize the further homogenization and demise of the LES culture. I do agree that the proliferation of bars in the neighborhood has been a serious issue, but I do not associate 200 Orchard with the nasty infection and the sickening state of the Lower East Side.Flag
