Rugby Borough Council finally surrendered and committed to the repairs we demanded for the bandstand. It took constant pressure to stop them from letting our heritage rot away but we forced their hand. Stay alert because we will be watching every hammer swing to ensure they actually finish the job.

We the residents of Rugby call upon Rugby Borough Council to recognise the important contribution the Rugby Recreation Ground Bandstand and Memorial Gardens and facilities make to the heritage of the borough. We call upon the council to carryout urgent repairs and enhancements before these heritage assets are lost to the people of Rugby.

One hundred people have spoken up to tell the Rugby Borough Council that their neglect of our bandstand ends now. These bureaucrats think they can let our history rot while we watch from the sidelines. They are wrong.

My love of athletics started here when taking shelter in the stand on Rugby AC nights. It must be repaired and maintained for future generations to enjoy and not lost forever.

This bandstand should be fixed and utilised properly, as it could be used properly so it could pay for itself and be there for generations to come so all can enjoy ! Put bands on there charity gigs , comedy or film in the park nights it would pay for it self then .

About time the council invested in the oldest public space/park in the town. It seems as though all the other parks in town have had inward investment yet Whitehall has only lost facilities and suffered from years of neglect.

I agree with -anon- why does all the money have to go into caldecott park next to the town hall, yes it looks lovely but why cant we have two lovely parks? whitehall rec is next to the brand new leisure center, surely its worth doing up and am sure local people and groups would join in any painting etc.

Rugby proudly boasts a championship section brass banf in Bilton Silver (Rugby) Band. Surely the best way of enjoying these talented musicians is from a beautiful bandstand in the park.

As the bandstand was erected to celebrate Rugby getting its Borough Council status I feel RBC has a duty to find the funds to save this historic feature... it is so disappointing that RBC have not been maintaining the bandstand so allowing it to reach this point.
