The U.S. government has had problems since the 1980s getting a satellite built properly to last us a long enough time. These types of weather satellites tell us when hurricanes and tornadoes are coming our way, so that we can take the appropriate precautionary measures to protect ourselves and the ones we love once the rough weather hits. Unfortunately, according to National Geographic of February 21st, 2013, there will be up to a one-year gap of no weather satellites that we would know of, which would have dastardly effects on our day-to-day lives. Join me as we convince the U.S. government to make the 2016 weather satellite Suomi NPP (Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership) to last until 2017, when their next satellite, JPSS (Joint Polar Satellite System), is scheduled to be sent into space. That way, we can close the gap and all breathe a sigh of relief.
