As some of you may know, Katedralskolan is going to be renovated starting from the summer of 2015. But what might not be well known, and which greatly concerns the International Baccalaureate program, is that the municipality of Uppsala is planning to remove “Rektorsvillan” from the school while the renovations are taking place. This will not only remove a place where IB students can sit and work in peace, but it will also remove a very important place of meeting for international students as the Villa is a place where students from many different cultural backgrounds meet and have a common place to work and a common language – English.
The students of the International Baccalaureate have fought for the Villa for several years, and now it is time to take up arms once again and prove ourselves right once and for all.

The IB students love and care about the villa and it makes a perfect place for them to relax
The villa is a space of peace and quiet that is absolutely vital for the IB students!
The villa has been a part of the IB for many years, and I think that the renovation is no reason for the municipal to take it away from the students when it has provided a perfect working environment for the students of the IB throughout the years.
It is the place were we feel accepted, it is very good for studying, and getting help from other IB students. Having in mind how much work we have , it is a pretty nice place where you can rest, and where you can do your homework without anyone disturbing you.
The villa is a major contributor to the years of success that has come off the IB.
The Villa is like our second home ;)
The Villa is what truly supports the IB students through this tough Programme.

This is a knock-on effect by government policy to raise rent costs in order to push the school for money, and also a failure to allocate the school budget in the best interests of the student. A freedom of information request to the school and Länsstyrelse according to "Offentlighetsprincipen" is the next step to find out why this is happening, and subsequently how to tackle the problem. The villa must stay not only for the benefit of students, but for teachers as well.
