Having recently planted a vegetable garden in my back lot at 4511 Ravenwood Oak Drive, I received notification from the Oakwood HOA Board that I need to tear down and destroy the garden due to the garden's encroachment on the property easement. My intention with this project, in addition to providing my family fresh fruit and vegetables, is to beautify a piece of property that has always failed to thrive since being used as a parking lot for the heavy equipment used in creating the walking trail. In addition, as a Community Outreach effort, I have also been approached by some of the teachers at Lakeland Elementary who feel a field trip for kids to see a working garden seamlessly coincides with the school's "Let's Get Moving" program; a program that encourages healthy eating habits as well as exercise. I am absolutely excited about the opportunity to use this garden as a means of educating the youth of our community and creating a little excitement that may result in other gardens being planted around our community. If you feel that this garden not only beautifies our community, but also affords a great opportunity to teach our kids where their food comes from, I would ask that you please sign my petition to show your support. Please help me convince the members of the Oakwood HOA Board to allow this non-permanent garden plot to remain as it is. Thank you so much for your consideration.
