Comments: Covering a site to protect it for future generations is fine if really necessary, provided it is first properly protected and preserved. However, our classical heritage (and it is a heritage which belongs to people around the world, not just Europeans) is under threat in many ways and this tomb is a site which, due to the popularity of the film 'Gladiator', would have a lot of interest for many people. It could be a doorway to a classical and archaeological heritage (including languages) which unfortunately many know little about. If there is a shortage of funding, why not try securing some from Hollywood? Don't they hold fund-raising events for good causes?
