The museum officials confirmed they are abandoning the plans to cut into the Rocky steps. I am drained from this long fight but relieved to know the stairs will remain exactly as they are. Keep your eyes open because we need to make sure they stick to this promise.

Please read - That plan, which is only optional at this point, “involves cutting a chunk of the Rocky steps so a roughly 24-foot-high window can be inserted halfway up. It would form the east wall of the new gallery and offer views of the skyline,”according to theInquirer. Inga Saffron expressed support for the option, saying “toying with the iconic steps is sure to be controversial, but the museum should be allowed one daring move.”

To be clear, this petition is against the final faze of the Philadelphia Art Museum steps, not the inside renovations.

These steps represent Hope to millions around the world. They bring people together with a shared reason to believe in themselves. To want to try. They come to these steps for many reasons; they just beat cancer or they just got married or divorced or felt the need to be surrounded by other like-minded individuals who want to try to achieve something more than what they were told they could. They understand life can be complex and brutal, yet the steps put things into perspective; you practice, you try, you learn, you achieve.

Locals and tourist alike flock to these steps daily to "prove themselves". The steps define who we are because they force us to challenge ourselves if we are willing to try and climb them.

In the words of Sylvester Stallone from the book, Rocky Stories, "When you train for Rocky, you basically train for yourself. Because we are underdogs. And there's very few things, iconic situations, that are accessible. You can't borrow Superman's cape. You can't swing a Jedi lightsaber. But the steps are there, accessible."

The steps are a true work of art that inspires it's visitors to achieve against the longest of odds.

Please, don't change them.

The opposition keeps calling this a simple renovation but the weight of these stones proves otherwise. I am still spending my nights sending emails to the board and while the silence is draining I refuse to let these stairs be broken for a window.

The steps are every bit a cultural icon in this country as the Rocky films themselves. Renovate the museum all you want, but leave the steps alone. This is like tampering with the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. Just don't do it!

Please don't touch those steps. They're so much more than a scene in a film. They now represent the persistence, endurance, hope, and power of the human spirit. Plus a lot of the tourism on Philadelphia is due to the Rocky legacy, why on earth would u WA

Besides the new design looking ugly... People come daily just too see the steps due to the popularity of the movie which draws even more people to the art museum daily then if the movie was never made.. Please leave a good thing alone!!

Please don't alter this iconic setting. I'm sure as a result the annual number of visitors would decrease. Me & my Wife travelled to Philly from the U.K to visit the Rocky sites. Please don't take away the chance of others to do the same thing in the future!

I was fortunate enough to run up those steps one time in my life so far and I actually planned on going back one more time. They are iconic. They deserve to remain the same... Sly / Rocky has given them all of us years of inspiration. These steps are a part of it forever please leave it alone and let it go on for generations to enjoy!!
