Name: Karen Furbish on Dec 6, 2012Comments: My family, especially my daughter and grandsons, come up from NC to visit me in Reston 4 times a year, and the top of our priority list is to visit B&N for a long session of book browsing and buying. I shared the original article about the closing with my daughter, and she is devastated. Yes, there's a B&N in Fairfax, but it just doesn't have the ambience, and customer service of the Reston store. If B&N can't remain in the Spectrum, then consider Tall Oaks. By the way, none of the 7 of us have any interest whatsoever in a Container Store, so it's not going to get any business from us.Flag

Comments: Barnes & Noble promotes education; it carries the book lists for South Lakes High School, Langston Hughes and other courses. It sells specialist reading matter and promotes community groups and involvement. It makes books interesting, fun and encourages curiosity for children. It engages in developing creative and intellectual thinking. There is no other store in Reston that can do this and will leave a gaping hole in the community if it closes.Flag -

Name: Lizette on Dec 6, 2012Comments: Barnes & Noble draws people into our community. Reston is all about community and camaraderie. I've met many people who come from other neighborhoods just to spend time at this B&N. We have three little ones and love spending our days there. It would be such a shame for our youngest baby and all the other children in the area to not have this great opportunity to read and learn in such a nice environment. Please find a way to keep our beloved store.Flag

There is no other book store in the area that has such a unique and talented group of workers. Their knowledge of books is unbeatable. And the location is ideal! Please save the Barnes and Noble!Flag

Name: Jenet L. Dechary on Dec 6, 2012Comments: It's a disgrace that our community will not have a bookstore for new books and periodicals. But it doesn't need to be B & N. Perhaps an independently owned store could be persuaded to come in and occupy a space near Reston where they would not have to comply with the complicated RA design board issues. There's an opportunity here for someone with passion and financial resources to do some good. Also, with B & N gone, authors and book club participants have nowhere closeby for their events and meetings.Flag

Name: Anne Taber Katz on Dec 6, 2012Comments: Not only does this Barnes and Noble have wonderful books, but it offers all sorts of gifts, and I have relied upon it time and time again. I have ordered CD's from them, bought toys for my grandchild, found helpful and interesting books, and then entered the connected Starbuck's for a cappucino. This makes me soooooo sad!Flag

Name: Lorraine Kleinwaks on Dec 6, 2012Comments: Thank you for starting this Petition! Will it be enough to make a difference? What more can we do to convince Lerner that this is a very sad and bad decision for Reston? I join the voices in saying that they are not at all interested in shopping in a Reston Container Store. Don't we have enough businesses that offer some of the same products -- why compete with Home Depot, Target, Staples, Office Depot? This seems to be an even bigger issue than losing our only bookstore. People are concerned about the future direction of our beloved community, with all the development changes ahead.Flag

Name: David Emery on Dec 6, 2012Comments: We routinely buy several hundred dollars per year at this store. The alternative for us will be Amazon.com. Is that really what B&N wants? I visit the Container Store maybe 3 times/year and buy maybe $15 each time. Their stuff is too expensive. Container Store should go for the old Borders space in Sterling.Flag

Name: C. Daragan on Dec 6, 2012Comments: While I shop at B&N, I will never shop at The Container Store. This is the sole bookstore a reasonable distance from Herndon. It is inconceivable to me that the public (especially in an upscale town like Reston) would favor a lower rent Container Store over a Barnes & Noble. While I like ebooks, I still enjoy walking through a brick and mortar store and perusing the books, something you really can't do on B&N.com or Amazon. I'd ask Lerner to reconsider although I realize it's probably too late. Low rent appears to be the best money so I can't wait to hear about the Dollar Store that will be moving into Spectrum Center next.Flag

Name: Katie Burleson on Dec 6, 2012Comments: Please keep Barnes & Noble. Through good times and bad, this store has lasted and maintained its community spirit, something a lot of the book stores in more transient areas can't achieve. When booksellers know you by name and have just the new boom for you, you know you have a gem of a store. It is time for Lerner to stop bullying the retail stores of this community, and they own A LOT of Reston's retail space. Look it up. North Point is the best example. We live here because we are a special community, Reston. If I wanted fast-paced commerce without a community spirit I would live and shop in Tyson's Corner. Thank you.Flag
