This historic building is located near the St. Johns bridge in Portland. Constructed in 1913, it has reached 100 years and held a fascination for many in our community. The land surrounding this historic site is highly contaminated and needs to be cleaned. The building has been sitting vacant since the mid 1950's. A 2001 report called this the second-most contaminated site in Portland. The building itself is contaminated, but we hope can be revitalized and saved for the good of the community. Like many structures of it's time, it was built with asbestos and lead paint. NW Natural believes the building is structurally unsound. Since the site needs to be cleaned either way, why not save our history AND make the site a clean and viable area?
Please support our efforts to save this beautiful historic building!
