We the undersigned, request that the cities of Papillion,La Vista, and Ralston continue funding for the Tri community 93x bus route served by Omaha Metro bus service. The service has been operating for almost 40 years. The ridership will increase under the proposed Metro plan to streamline the service. This route serves a wide spectrum of citizens and businesses in Ralston, LaVista and Papillion. The route carries regular and intermittent riders. Some passengers ride during the winter when snowy weather is eminent or their car is being repaired. The bus serves teachers, students and workers going to Omaha to the Downtown and Midtown area. Other passengers use the bus coming from Omaha to work in businesses in the Ralston-La Vista-Papillion area. Papillion’s Annual Funding for the bus is $7000 which represents .01% of their budget. Likewise LaVista’s funding is $8600 which is .07% of their budget. The impact of this funding is minimal to the cities' budgets and should therefore not be considered an unwanted use of tax payers money.

I really need to mention that the silence coming from the city offices is honestly deafening even though I keep refreshing my inbox to see if anyone has finally decided to acknowledge the fact that this bus route is a lifeline for so many people who just need to get to work or class without having to shell out money for car repairs they cannot afford. Thinking about how the budget for this is such a tiny sliver of a percent makes me want to scream because it feels like they are just ignoring us out of pure stubbornness while I try to figure out who else I can corner with these emails.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam but here we are and it really makes me think about how many people actually rely on the 93 bus to get to work or class every single day. My inbox is blowing up with stories from people I have never met and it is pretty wild to see that kind of energy for something that feels so obviously necessary to keep running. We should probably keep pushing while people are actually paying attention because the city council really needs to see that we are not going to just let this route disappear quietly.
