The mayor of Long Beach wants to eliminate the Pan Am Parks Recreation and After School Program. This means that there will no longer be any after school care at Pan Am Park during the school year, no more sports programs throughout the year, no summer drop off program, and no open gym. The park will not have any employees working at all. We need to stop this from happening. Our children need to have a safe and well maintained place to play. The sports program is vital to keeping our kids healthy and it is a way for our kids to make new friends. Many families count on the after school program for a safe and friendly place for their children to go after school. They can play, get help with homework, as well as many other things that keep them out of trouble. If you take this away, many kids will be bored and actually get into trouble by roaming the neighborhood. There will be nobody there to monitor behavior. We need as many signatures as we can to help stop this from happening.
