My brother is a freshman at Harry Senior High School, in levittown, PA. He recently came home and informed us that he would not be able to change into his new desired language next year, German, because the school will be cutting all languages except Spanish and Italian. The schools district is large and has a large student body, cutting the languages will not only affect the diversity of what the students can learn but it will also cause more overcrowding in the remaining language classes. I am hoping to start a petition and take it to every household in the district in the hopes of keeping the languages. There is no guarantee that my efforts will yield the desired response but I do not want to just sit back and let it happen. Sadly i am unemployed, monthly i only receive my VA disability which covers basic living expenses for my son and I, thus attempting this on my own would not be possible. The funds i am trying to raise would cover gas to travel throughout the entire district, a 5 ream box of printer paper for all flyer and actual signature forms, ink for my printer to cover all printing from home which is cheaper than using a service, limited childcare for the days i would travel furthest and money for food while on the road. According tohttp://www.publicschoolreview.com/school_ov/school_id/68676there are approximately 6,200 students zoned for Truman Senior High School, and I would like to try to reach all of those families.
