Kathleen Jackson | Lakewood YMCA is an important community anchor, and a positive force.
Rosemary Munroe | Please keep the YMCA at Lakewood in the neighborhood. It is an important center for the community.

Anonymous | I greatly prefer the Lakewood YMCA to the larger one in Downtown Durham. I sincerely hope its service to the community can be continued and I think it serves a distinct set on youth that would otherwise go unserved.

George Ploghoft | The Y is too important a resource in the community to lose. Please do all that is possible, and be creative, in finding ways to keep our Y open! I'm planning to rejoin the Y now that I'm working full time again, so I'll be at Lakewood alot.

Sam Hull | The Lakewood Y has always been a hub of neighborhood activity, for all ages. It reflects our diverse community and provides activities to occupy young, old, and in between. Keep it alive!

Theresa Hoke | My previous gym, Metrosport, closed today. I am seeking a new gym. The Lakewood YMCA is an easy jog from my home. I would certainly choose the Durham YMCA if I knew Lakewood would remain available. Can I have such hope?

Daren Hart | I would like to say that the city of durham needs the YMCA and many more exercise facilities to deal with the obestiy issues of today's times....

We will no longer go to the Y downtown if the YMCA closes the Lakewood. We support downtown but that YMCA is not as much for children and more for adults with no outdoor activity area. |
Leigh Thorne, MD | Crime and obesity in our youth are prevalent today. There are far too few recreational facilities as it is. We can help prevent children turning to crime out of bordom and at the same time promote a healthy lifestyle by keeping the YMCA open.

Matthew Fussell | As a member I know first hand it is always a great day at the Lakewood Y! It seems this Y in particular could be succesfully community kid- powered if there was interested leadership.
