Randal HaithcockThe Lakewood YMCA served as the earliest home of one of my children's schools--Kestrel Heights. It served many children from as far away as Parkwood. It is still a usable facility and can contribute for many years to come to the community in South Durham.

Kelly JarrettThe Lakewood Y fulfills the historic mission of the YMCA and every effort should be made to insure that a YMCA remains in this urban core neighborhood, where it can serve the youth and residents of Durham. If the Triangle YMCA must close a branch, I respectfully suggest American Tobacco, a branch that surely does not serve near the number of Durham children or residents as Lakewood.

Ann StickelI hope the Lakewood YMCA can be saved. I believe that especially the young people in the Lakewood area need its services.
Janene TompkinsDo not close the Lakewood YMCA. It serves a very important purpose in the Durham community. The Y's youth programs cannot be replaced. Since other youth programs are facing budget cuts, the Lakewood Y offers one of the last safe places for kids.
Clay A ChandlerI would like to see this Y stay open. Back in the mid 1970's the Central Y on Trinity Ave was closed in favor of the Lakewood Y. I thought that was a mistake , as this Y has now been replaced with the Downtown Durham Y. Could we stop closing buildings & concentrate on getting new members to join .
