We, the undersigned, petition The Saul Zaentz Company (SZC) to drop their unfair and unnecessary legal action against The Hobbit Free House in Southampton, UK. The pub has been trading under that name for 23 years, 8 of which were before SZC got the copyright in the United Kingdom for the name. No copyright infringement was intended and the public house is not "cashing in" on expected revenue from your movies merely it is trading under a brand it established long before. Please cease and desist this unfair course of action.
we just hit ten thousand signatures which is totally wild. thank you for helping me show them that this pub means way more than some legal paperwork.

we are almost at a thousand signatures and it would be huge to cross that line today. keep the pressure up because they are definitely going to notice this number when it hits four digits.

One of my favourite palces. Absolutely ridiculous to close it down over something so petty!

The Hobbit is a local landmark. Going after them is just plain mean and a waste of everyone's time.

This is total bullying. How can a massive company go after a little pub in Southampton? Shameful.
