We, the undersigned, urge the North Castle Town Board to reject Mariani Gardens proposal for a sweeping zoning change to their nursery zone; specifically, the request to “allow social functions” year round, seven days a week, in unrestricted numbers, including events until 11 p.m. The requested zoning would permit Mariani's to serve alcohol, and would allow amplified music, large temporary tents, contracted caterers and unrestricted parking. This historic neighborhood is partly residential and such an intensive business use offering late night events, with the accompanying noise and traffic, will change the character of this otherwise quiet historic district permanently. Once these rights are given, they cannot be taken back.
