The Petition Statement:

We are against the proposed change to Trent Country Park Cafe and have only known since after 10th February 2012, that the lease will not be renewed and the cafe will be under new management from 31st March. The cafe, run by Denis and Rosa Marzocchi has been central to the Trent Country Park community for 30 years, is extremely popular and well used. We strongly object to not being informed or consulted regarding the proposed change and want the cafe to continue under the existing management.

We would also like to point out that this is far more than just a cafe. It is the hub of a very large and diverse community of all ages from all walks of life. Such a community takes a long time to build up (30 years in fact). This familiar, friendly cafe always welcomes regular and occasional visitors alike, providing a wide range of food and drink, sensibly priced. It has helped many people to cope with stress and mental problems. It serves as a first aid centre for minor accidents. It is popular with the physically and mentally disabled because it’s one of few places in north London that openly welcomes them and groups often arrive by minibus to use the cafe, all year round. It helps with emergency services when they are required to visit the park. It also even functions as a rescue centre - reuniting lost children with their parents and even lost dogs with their owners ! So it’s far more than just a cafe, it’s an essential part of the Trent Park community, as you’ll see in the many comments people have taken the trouble to write on the ipetition, which obviously reflect the strong affection and feeling people share for this place and it’s staff. It provides an exceptional community service and therefore surely must be allowed to continue.
