Do you know about the Basler Kindernaescht? Not enough people do!

Situated in downtown Basel next to Marktplatz, the Kindernaescht is a drop-in daycare where children aged 22 months to 12 years can play while you shop, work, attend an appointment or simply go and have a coffee in peace. And no advanced registration is necessary.



Letizia Marioni started the Kindernaescht 10 years ago with funding from the Christoph Merian Stiftung - when her proposal was selected as the winner of their 'Better Ideas for Basel' competition. Sadly today, the Kindernaescht is not sure if it will make it another year. Their very reasonable hourly rates (10 CHF for the first child and 7 CHF for siblings) have only been possible because of sponsorship and subsidies. Recently, however, their partners and sponsors have decided that after 10 years of support, it is time for them to move on to other projects in Basel.



Please sign our online petition and leave a testimonial if you’ve used the Kindernaescht and would like to help it stay open. We'd like to get as many signatures as possible to show that the Kinderneascht is indeed an important asset to families like ours - and to the city of Basel.

With these signatures and testimonials, the Basel Children's Trust will support the Kinderneascht in trying to secure funding for the coming years.



The Kindernaescht won the 'Better Ideas for Basel' competition 10 years ago for a good reason; it was a great idea then, and is still one today. The Kindernaescht makes Basel a better city. Please help the BCT to help ensure that the Kindernaescht is around for many more years to come.
