Comments: The tight-knit community between students, as well as teachers, is what makes PS 122 Gifted Academy so special. I made some of my best friends during my three years there, and I obtained a great education in the process.

Comments: This school is the reason I'm in a top high school at the moment, the teachers are excellent, the gifted program is superb, students came from all over the city to this school specifically.

Comments: This program is an amazing option for students who can not afford private schools. Attending this school was a great experience for me and helped me to get accepted into Stuyvesant high school along with two arts schools.

Comments: Going to PS122Q helped prepare me to enter high school and move on to college. It challenged me rigorously and prepared me for the tough work I was about to face. It was the best school I ever to.

Comments: As a PS 122 Academy graduate I believe it would truly be a wrong and unfortunate decision to end this program. It has been more memorable and has given me a stronger foundation and deeper connection with classmates than both high school and college have. My years there have been beautiful and other students should be able to experience such exquisite middle school years as well.

Comments: Without the Academy at 122, I would not be the person I am today. The teachers, educational experiences and people I met during my schooling at 122 changed my life and molded my career opportunities. The education I received was invaluable and the atmosphere at the school is something that cannot be compared to other institutions.

Comments: I graduated from P.S. 122's academy program in 2003 and it was a great middle school in the midst of a neighborhood (in fact, many of the surrounding neighborhoods as well) full of sub-par and under-performing schools. I can absolutely guarantee that if I wasn't accepted into this program and pushed academically from the young age that I was, I would not be where I am today- I graduated the Bronx High School of Science, have a bachelor's degree from Penn State University, and my own journey academically continues. I was pushed academically to the point where I thought the standards were unrealistically high, but I realized in high school and college that this allowed me to truly reach my potential and realize it, rather than to waste my time on schoolwork that was below my academic level or that only grazed my academic level, rather than pushing me to learn one step ahead of the curve. To lose this program would be incredibly sad for those who could stand to benefit from it in the future, and for the Astoria in general.
