Name: Nicolee Dana on Jan 23, 2013Comments: The 5th Grade Beach Club Day is a Callie tradition that costs the district no money, and is supported by staff and students alike. We need to stand up and teach our kids that their voice matters and we will fight to keep the tradition alive. A college student and former Callie kid was quoted as saying, "Taking the Beach Club Day from them is liking taking Grad Night away from seniors".Flag

Name: Jessica Guzman on Jan 25, 2013Comments: I completely agree with the parents, there is no valid reason why the kids cant have something to look forward to at the end of the year... This event prevents a lot of end of year problems such as fights etc as there is a lot of supervision over all of the kids. This is something that the teachers have used as an incintive to come to school every day and be an honorary student...I think it is important to have at least one fun thing for the kids to do... They dont get 6th grade camp anymore, they have NO electives in middle school, no field trips in elementary school and now they cant walk a quarter of a mile to enjoy their end of year celebration..Flag

There are plenty of safety precautions taken with parent consent and involvement. This should not be stripped from our childrens memoriesFlag

Name: Allison Davis on Jan 25, 2013Comments: my friend's child attends this school and I strongly feel that this tradition be allowed to continue .. if it was ok in the years past it should be ok to continue now .. why would the district say no to this year ? if there are issues that have come up address them, fix things that need fixing or add things that need to be added .. but don't take this away from the children and families ..Flag
