Name: Tony Jozefczyk on Jan 12, 2013Comments: The BBC has stated that there “an expectation to hear faith-related output. ”. Although a superficially helpful comment, it is very revealing about the BBC’s mindset towards those who appreciate faith-based output as they now have to listen at an extremely inconvenient time. The BBC’s answer is a smokescreen and obscures the strategic issue that is behind this change. Is the BBC any longer the main (or at least a) broadcaster for the whole nation or only for those whose worldview matches a dominant secular approach? This approach should be discussed not sneakily implemented without any consultation. Would “the Radio 2 Arts Programme” be broadcast only on Sunday at 6AM? Would “Bob Harris Country”, or the “Folk Programme” etc. If my interest is hymns then I an expected to make do with a graveyard hour but if it’s Folk etc then I can listen live at a convenient point.Flag

Name: Roger Furbear on Jan 13, 2013Comments: Yet another assault on Christianity and Christian values in our country which shamefully reflects the degenerating standards of the BBC. Sunday Half Hour on Sunday evenings has been a British institution for more than 70 years enjoyed by millions of Christians and non-Christians alike and should not be (re)moved arbitrarily by the demonic influences at the BBC. Their explanation . . . ? Breathtaking arrogance! Kind regards.Flag

Most people here in this residential home won't write to complain. They don't have the kind of radio that records things. They will just be sad. They will not understand what has happened to this lovely evening event which they look forward to.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 13, 2013Comments: I have listened to both the Sunday morning 06:00 to 09:00 and the 20:30 to 21:00 Christian related broadcasts for quite a few years. Unfortunately since Don Maclean departed the BBC I have noticed the Sunday morning Christian references & hymns gradually declining /or being watered down to the point that it is very hard to tell the difference between a traditional BBC broadcast and the Christian based broadcast. I believe that when the two christen programs become one then the trend of watering down the Christian aspect of the program will continue until all reference to the Christian and values we stand for will be totally eroded from the BBC for ever. Very sad timesFlag

Name: R Holland on Jan 13, 2013Comments: I've been listening to Sunday Half Hour since 2006. The Michael Ball Show was put out to tender as a 90/120-minute programme so there seems to have been some uncertainty within the BBC about whether to axe Sunday Half Hour. 8.30pm is an ideal time for the programme and I hope the BBC reconsiders its decision.Flag

Name: Steve Smith on Jan 13, 2013Comments: It is crazy to shift the programme to 6am. Most listeners will not be up at that time and most elderly people will not have the technology skills to pre-record the programme for listening later. Thus after some time the BBC will be able to justify shutting it completely. This I believe is part of a BBC culture of marginalising Christianity in line with the prevailing culture in that organisation, rather than reflecting the values of the nation which are still majority christian and certainly majority God believing. The argument of linking it to the later programme which starts at 7am I believe is spurious, as whether or not people turn on for the 7am programme they would not turn on for the 6am time! Additionally the 8-30pm time suits the ambience of the programme and is a much more popular time especially for elderly people whom I suspect are the majority of the listeners.Flag
