Name: Nic Tall on Mar 18, 2013Comments: I support the retention of Sunday Half Hour as it is much loved by many older people, including relatives of mine, who are housebound or in other ways unable to attend a Sunday service in church. Many older people do not use the iPlayer so can't listen again at a time of their convenience. Moving it to 6am is a terrible decision, marginalising religious broadcasting and the people who really value it.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 1, 2013Comments: 100's of 1,000's have relished Sunday Half Hour for decades, especially the housebound. This unique programme has been moved to such a ridiculously early slot, hardly anyone is able to tune in. A cruel cut by those in power who said 'We care about and cater for minority listeners.' Please prove this by re-instating 'Sunday Half Hour' back to 8.30pm and remove the run of the mill fodder from Michael Ball, available every day of the week. There's no shame in doing the best thing for your listeners and we promise praise in the press!Flag

Name: Jane McCrum on Apr 7, 2013Comments: i have returned from abroad and tried to listen to Sunday half hour. What can we expect to religious broadcast on the BBC when the person in charge is a Muslim. He is not interested in Sunday? Half hour. How dare they. But where are the church leaders? They should be campaigning.Flag

Name: Beryl Thompson on Apr 7, 2013Comments: What a disgrace. I have listened to Sunday Half Hour for the last 57 years. I cannot believe the BBC could take it away from its 8.30pm slot and expect people to be awake at 6am to listen to its replacement. A huge backward step by the BBC.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Russell on Apr 7, 2013Comments: Very disappointed at the loss of this programme which I regularly listen to. There is little enough religious broadcasting and I do not think all listeners want to wake at 6.0am every Sunday. It is especially sad for people who are elderly and persons who cannot make it out to services and most in those category are not in a position to listen later online. Please bring the programme back. My family and I and my mother all enjoy singing along with the hymns and have done so for many years.Flag

This seems a typical "we know best" attitude from an out of touch BBC production team. No doubt we are too late to add to the petition but wished to make our strong objections known.Flag

Name: Colin Ashley on Apr 21, 2013Comments: I have been privileged to listen to Sunday Half Hour since the early '60s. However, for the last three months I have been otherwise engaged on a Sunday Evening and until tonight I was unaware that SHH had been consigned to history since the alleged replacement cannot be treated as the same programme. For me SHH prepared me for the week ahead; a quiet time after studying or working at home. For many people, especially older people it has probably been their continuing contact with religion. I am concerned that the new programme is the thin end of the edge for getting rid of the hymn singing completely. I recall that for many years there was a programme of hymns early on a Sunday morning on Radio 4 along with Bells on Sunday. The hymn singing was done away with. I have a feeling that in a while it will be claimed that audience figures have dropped and that even the replacement will quietly disappear. Please restore SHH to its original format and time.Flag

Name: John Wainwright on Apr 27, 2013Comments: Though not an elderly person myself I am aware that many older people value this program. How many of them are going to get up at 6am to listen? Seemingly it's yet another attempt by the BBC to marginalise religion in their schedules where it receives a smaller % of time than 50 years ago!Flag

Those of us who used it for worship don't expect adverts half way through the programme- I have stopped listening to it because in no longer does anything for me, and I AM NOT AN OLD PERSON.Flag
