Name: M. Wiggins on Jan 11, 2013Comments: The BBC have an obligation to provide a public service to the whole of the licence fee paying community and getting rid of 'Suday Half Hour', beacause it does not attract a large enough audience, is only pandering to the majority who have little interest in this type of programmeFlag

Name: David Nash on Jan 11, 2013Comments: Yet again, the BBC is dumbing down their programmes, particularly the Sunday evening schedule. I suspect the majority of listeners to this programme do not have access to iplayer. However, they probably have been licence payers for years and should been listened to.Flag

Name: Tom Glare on Jan 11, 2013Comments: If the scheduling of broadcasts is really of such little importance as the BBC is trying to argue, then why is there such fierce competition between broadcasters over such prized slots as the mid-evening TV programmes and the drive-time radio shows? Even for those who routinely use the iPlayer for listening to documentaries and comedies, there is still something special about the shared experience of listening live to programmes like Sunday Half-Hour, particularly when the perceptive but gentle intelligence of presenters like Father Darcy and Ms Diane-Louise Jordan makes it such an intimate experience. This programme has been a wonderful institution over the last 70 years, and it would be a great mistake to (effectively) drop it just to appease the current anti-religious sentiments, which will fade out of fashionability in years to come. I have never heard any of the presenters speak in derogatory terms of those who do not believe - in contrast with many comedy and and topical programmes, where sneering at religion is accepted without question. So, please, non-believers, just respectfully switch off at 8.30 p.m. and listen instead to the programme that YOU recorded earlier.Flag

Name: Ollie Mulcock on Jan 11, 2013Comments: I don't understand how a 30minute programme is such a problem for the BBC. This programme may not be listened to by millions but it targets the elderly and those unable to get to Church who enjoy being able to have something on a Sunday. These people will not be listening on iPlayer so how about just leave things how they are - they work. A Sunday evening is made complete by a calming Sunday Half Hour helping people prepare for the week aheadFlag

Name: Father Eric Manley-Harris on Jan 11, 2013Comments: I would imagine many elderly people, like myself, who are presently tuned into Sunday Half Hour at 8.30pm will be very disappointed with the proposed change to early Sunday morning. The programme provides a lovely end of the day preparation for going to bed mindful of the love and mercy of God which are frequently the subjects of the hymns that we have joined in at home. Rev Royal, Fr D'Arcy and Diane-Louise Jordan have made a magnificent contribution in helping people of faith to share in this much-loved ecumenical programme of praise and fellowship provided for many years by the BBC. Please let it continue as Sunday Half-Hour at 8.30pmFlag

Name: Brenda Holden on Jan 11, 2013Comments: Why is it OK to discriminate against Christians? Many older listeners are not up at 6a.m. and do not have the facilities to record or watch on computer. There are hundreds of hours in the week to broadcast other programmes (many of them with a minority of viewers) We need more religious programmes, not sidelining the few we have left.Flag

Name: Keith Jump on Jan 11, 2013Comments: Many of the listeners to Sunday half Hour do not have access to iplayer. In any case the sense of listening at the same time is lost. To give such short notice of the change after 72 years is disrespectful to many faithful listeners.Flag

Name: Veronica Corben on Jan 11, 2013Comments: When Diane Louise Jordan broke the news last Sunday, I nearly collapsed. I couldn't believe even the BBC would do such a thing. I am sure virtually none of the dedicated listeners to the wonderful Sunday Half Hour are even awake at 6am, especially the elderly, who form a large part of the audience. This is just another example of the BBC getting at Christians. Whether we are a minority or not, we are entitled to a space for our faith. Please return the programme to its former slot and not the laughable time of 6 am. It's almost more insult than no programme at all. How many regular listeners did you consult? I cannot believe a single one would have voted for the change. Is that serving your listeners? I think not. I may well give up the radio if you don't return it to its entitled place. PLEASE think again!Flag

Name: Jo Jacques on Jan 12, 2013Comments: too much is only available as a pre-recording. As a listener you feel more and more that you are being treated like a robot. Who is going to listen at 6 am. It is vital that there is somelthing available to listen to at a mian time in the day. Listen again is a complicated procedure, involving familiarity with computer technology. Not easy with poor sight, and inactive fingers.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 12, 2013Comments: We strongly protest at the proposed move of a favourite programme from an established time. Being elderly and in poor health we would not be up at 6am and do not have an iplayer so would miss out completely on a programme enjoyed for many years.Flag
