WHEREAS, Save A Pet was founded in 1983 in Desert Hot Springs, California as a non profit, no kill shelter that finds homes for over 600 pets a year.
WHEREAS, the shelter is zoned low density residential and will be closed without a variance or special use permit.
WHEREAS, the shelter is located within the "sphere of influence" of the city of Desert Hot Springs ("city") and within the unincorporated area of the County of Riverside ("county").
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the city and the county both shall request and approve zoning changes or variances necessary to keep Save a Pet from closing.
